| Love Example A, Abe. Wish we could use it. Unfortunately, until we become big names and have everyone scrambling to talk to us, we're stuck, needing to stay in their good graces. I hate that. I hate the lack of power. |

| I despise the lack of power, and feeling like I'm begging. Abe example 'A' is great. Wouldn't it be empowering to be able to use it? |

| No response yet to my email to the Agent's assistant - don't these people answer emails? |

| Isn't that frustrating? I still have high hopes though, Jenny. |

| You just never know. That's what's so maddening. One agent responded within fifteen minutes of sending an email, and, thinking of the old saying, A bird in hand, etc, I signed with her. I had some good experiences, but evenutally parted ways. Now in the process again and it's again maddening to wait and wonder.
Like they've advised at conferences, forget it and work on the next novel. They don't want to be bugged, and some have adopted the policy of not responding if they're not interested. That's even worse.
But, if we want a chance with the big houses, we have to play the game, no matter how we might grumble at the rules. |

| I know exactly what you mean, Brenda. I've sent out countless submissions never to hear a response, even to those I've included an SASE with. As most rejections are form letters or emails, (unless you're lucky and an agent gives details as to why he/she is rejecting the manuscript) it only takes two seconds to hit reply, send or stuff a single sheet of paper in an envelope and pop it in the mail box. I know agents are busy people, but surely its only courtesy to reply? |

| Yes, it's courtesy, but in today's hustle and bustle world, not everyone considers courtesy a must.
Just to make sure, is the WIP section the private one? |

| Yes, Brenda it is. If you log out and access the board you can't see it in the list. |

I thought about your anthology, Shelagh, but this story isn’t about friendship. It’s a mystery/suspense. That's unfortunate. I would very much have liked to include you and Jenny in the anthology. |

| Shelagh Unfortunately the rules of the M&B competition preclude the story being published anywhere else at the present time, otherwise I would have submitted it to you. |

| Hoping you hear some good news soon. I have found that some publishers and agencies say that if the writer doesn't hear from them in fill-in-the-number of days, then consider it a "no thanks", and the writer is free to move on to the next agent/publisher. Frustrating, yes, because we keep thinking, "Well, what if I hear from them today?" But that can go on forever. No closure is no peace of mind. I found something on Miss Snark which might be fun to read, perhaps, helpful. http://misssnark.blogspot.com/2006/05/theres-glacialand-then-theres-agent.html |

| Susan, that usually applies to queries only. When agents have requested a paritial or full manuscipt they usually respond one with either a rejection or acceptance. If they fail to repond to a requested submission, I doubt they would have many clients. |
