I wasn't sure where to put this so if it is in the wrong place, I am sorry.

When you work on your blog, do you write/type in another document or directly into your blog? Do you save a copy on your harddrive for future reference?

Both. If it is a short post, I type directly into the blog post. If it's a longer blog, I type into word then copy and paste. I save the file for future reference.

Like a lot of things, we don't always do it the smart, fail-safe way.

But that would be creating it in a file, saving the file, then pasting it in.

There are many advantages to this besides having a backup or not losing work if your web connection breaks.

--you can run full-force spellchecks.

--with some blogs you can include formating from your word processor (tildes, umlauts, accents and other foreign gizmos; copyright symbols and other such special characters)

--you can set it aside and think about it for awhile, then see if you want to alter it before posting.

I type directly into the blog; fortunately, most sites allow you to save your work in progress, or else they do it. If I ever type something in Word first, I have a mess because of the invisible codes Word adds that appear when the thing is copied and pasted into a blog.

I generally type it in a word doc and then copy and paste it in. I haven't had any problems with pasting it into my blog at all, unless I start to edit it after I have pasted and then all kinds of weird stuff can happen.

But that's okay, because life, after all, is weird. Isn't it? bounce

I've had it happen that I was unable to copy and paste into a blog what I've written in Word, so I've copied and pasted from what I've directly written into a blog to a Word document so I have a copy.

Thank you, Everyone, for your kind responses. I have gone to just about everyone's blog that responds on these threads and I love them all! Now, to sit down and do mine. *grin*

Thanks again!

Sue, just a quick note. Make sure your posts on the Wordpress blog are different then your blogspot posts (at least by 25%) or else one will get "sandwiched" by Google for duplicate content.

Good luck with them.

I just let blogs fade into outer space, Sue. I do save stuff I intend to sell on a CD, zip and floppy disk. The fact is, once I've written something and sold it I never want to see it again. So far no one has offered to pay me for blogs.

Thanks, Dick.

I had a thought a few weeks ago about putting blog posts into a book. Don't know if I ever will. Just a thought though.
