I am glad I had kids--Mother's day would be such a bore with no kids to lie to you and tell you how wonderful and self-sacrificing you are.

We thought we taught them to tell the truth?

These kids are still competing. Will they ever learn they are all winners to have me as a mom?

By the way, Carol, I can't compete with your elegant gloves or petite size, but here is me when folks used to mistake me for a mannequin.

It was downright funny to stand by the door in stores and fool people. One man jumped a mile when I smiled at hm.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful mom's!!!!! Alice and Marie...I like your perspective! I've never heard a mother put it that way before so thank you! It is very true! I've two wonderful boys that make me very thankful for the missing plugs of hair in my head and all the white strands popping up! Still, those are my battle scars and I wouldn't trade 'em for anything Laughing

I especally like the memory of Dan as a toddler He had discovered my name was Alice Crooker.

On Mother's day morning, he banged on the bathroom door and said , "Mama Alsus Crooker, Happy Mother's Day!"

Dave called me that for years afterward.

This will be my first Mother's Day with no children in the same state! My daughter recently moved to California and my son just left yesterday for France to student intern at the Cannes Film Festival. I'm very proud and happy that they're following their dreams, and that will make it a wonderful Mother's Day!

It is bothering me more than I expected. She lived to be 93 which was good, and she was very ill, but when my husband went into the card shop today to buy a Mother's Day card for me, I suddenly felt sad I did not have to buy one for my mom.

Dave called yesterday. I thought it was my Mother's Day call a day early, but it turned out he was spending the whole day with Jaycie so Mom could spend some time on herself: shopping, hair cut, nails, etc. He said, "You know? I'm starting to see why Lyn is sometimes stressed out at the end of a day." (Jaycie will be two months old Wednesday.)
