| A Stodghill Says So blog:I've never been a big fan of the FBI. Some of the agency's tactics are annoying and many of its agents are obnoxious and arrogant. If that isn't enough, three of the dumbest men I have ever known were former FBI agents. One was a county sheriff, one a postmaster and one a guy who hung around bars but always seemed to have left his wallet at home. One day many years ago when I worked for Pinkerton's several investigators were hanging around the front desk in the area where eight or ten female clerks worked. The manager of our agency branch in Cleveland was there too so something special was going on but I don't remember what. The investigators had their own room at the far end of the hall and we didn't even use the front door as we'd come and go. The office girls wouldn't have recognized us if we passed on the street. Or perhaps they knew more than we believed. So anyway, while some of us were milling around there, two FBI agents came in and asked to see the manager. After he identified himself one of them said, "We want to see your files." At that time Pinkerton's had, among other things, the largest file in the world on jewel robbers. The manager, a tough, burly man, smiled cordially and nodded his head. "We'll be glad to let you see our files - the day the FBI allows us to see its files." The visitors turned and left in a huff. I'm sure that as they walked down the corridor to the elevator they could hear the loud laughter behind them all the way. Nearly a decade after that two men who identified themselves as FBI agents came to my house and knocked on the door. When I opened it one said, "We want to talk to you." I told them to get off my property and slammed the door in their faces. All these years I've occasionally wondered what it was they wanted to talk about. |

| Don't you just hate it when dummies like that keep popping up? They are like a bad penny, you can't seem to get shed of them. You are probably better off not knowing what they wanted to talk about. God bless! |

| It must not have been too important or they wouldn't have left. But then again. . . |

| After my return from Beirut, there was a knock at the door. I opened it and two FBI agents stood there, flashed their badges and just walked in. I remained standing by the door holding it open. They began to read me my rights. I listened, and when the agent got to the end and asked if I understood, I said, "I understand that you have barged into my house without a warrant. If you have anything to say, please go outside and then tell me why you're here." They did go back outside and then said that they had just a few questions for me. They asked and I answered. They were on a fishing expedition and visited me since I had been out of the country for an extended period of time, especially in the M.E., and they were trying to make some connection to something or someone, I don't remember who or what. Anyway, they left and never returned. |

| Carol, you are probably right--I wish you were wrong though--we will have to rescue them from the FBI. |

| The FBI has been watching E. Too Sharpe for several days, and are on the verge of charging him with identity thievery. It is now a federal offense to steal an identity, and use it across state lines, as on the internet, to impersonate someone else who's identity it was that you thieved. Watch out, E. Too Sharpe, Dick still has connections with that bunch of Pinkerton peoples. |

| Fortunately, I've had no known encounters with the FBI. But there's got to be a reason why most of the police shows paint the feds as being rather nasty and dimwitted.

| And whatever you do, don't make the mistake of dressing up like a hillbilly and going camping in the hills of Tennessee. That nice guy in the suit that sticks his head inside your tent is a revenoor, and that's pretty dang close to being an FBI agent. Cept they're worser cause they always think yer a moonshiner, and they always take yer whiskey, even when you tellls 'em the 112 quarts in yer tent is fer medicinal purposes. |

| According to an official looking government site:
Today the United States Intelligence Community comprises over seventeen organizations. The vision of The United States Intelligence Community is “a unified enterprise of innovative intelligence professionals whose common purpose in defending American lives and interests and advancing American values, draws strength from our democratic institutions, diversity, and intellectual and technological prowess.”
I have known someone with the FBI, the State Department and the National Security Agency. I like these people. The National Security person was the most secretive. All I know is he was an expert in the Korean language, and I've known him for over 50 years.
