I make my own bookmarks. They are two-sided and the template I use
makes 5 per 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. I print them on card stock paper and for
"special" ones I hole punch them at the top and my daughter makes
embroidery thread tassels for them.

At one library book signing I put a bunch of them in a container and
gave one to each book buyer. Then I sold them to others for $2.00, and
donated half of the sales to the Friends of the Library. They loved it,
and I made as much off my half as I did on book sales! LOL

If anyone would like to have the template just let me know.

I think I've spent $12 on promoting. tongue

Well, I built the website. That was cheap.
I had a handful or magnetic bumper stickers and a couple of glass static stickers made and forced my family to put them on their cars. Those were cheap.

I've had a box of business cards made. They didn't cost much. A few have been handed out.

That's about it.

I know I am not trying hard enough ... if at all. I really do NOT like to sell ... not even stuff I like, believe in, or for my own benefit.

I suppose it's a good thing I don't want to be wealthy or famous.
Cool

Jo Elle,

I hate to sell--love to buy. As an accuntant I can tell you not to buy easier than say you should buy.

Salespeople are either rich or poor. There is rarely an in between.

If someone wants what I have, I would far rather give it to them than sell it to them.

Brew if you are still offering that template, I would really appreciate it. I did bookmarks with my first book, and they were a real tricky pain in the butt. Having something that works would be great. You could email me at pamrobertson@eastlink.ca please and thank you.

I think that no matter what we do, the marketing is extremely important. It does me no good to have stacks of books in my spare room (and right now I am in the process of marketing two books actively, which is bonkers in case you were thinking about it). I think the important thing to keep in mind is that there are people who need to read what we have written.
Learning how to market effectively - which I think starts close to home where you become known among friendly faces first - helps the introvert manage with extroverted activities. Remember, you can do this, because people need to read what you have to say.
The current offerings are here.

I would be happy to, Pam, but that email doesn't work. Maybe you could
email me at keechie@bellsouth.net and I can reply that way.

I also have a tri-folding brochure that I designed myself. Great for mailing!

I've sent you an email Brew, thanks for following up. I am off to do a little writing so that I can follow it up with some more promotion. Cheers!

I gave copies of my book away. At this point I don't expect anyone to afford my book.

I would much prefer they eat.

I think a sign of wealth will be the size of a person's personal library.

I'm always on the lookout for free promotional oppertunities on the internet for my book. I can't really afford to spend lots of money on promotion, so free is good.
