Hello, Everyone!

I hope everyone is well and had a wonderful holiday season!

I am sorry I was MIA. Between being ill, loss of my father, and the holidays my time has been very short for being in groups and forums.

I just wanted to apologize for being gone so long and hope that I can get back into a schedule of coming here to check out the posts like I use to. I am full of questions again! Laughing Question Question Question

Welcome back, Sue! So sorry to hear of your loss and illness.

I know what you mean about catching up with all the postings here! If I miss coming here for a couple of days, it takes all day to catch up and no time for posting!

Thank you so much for your condolences! It means a lot to me as well as the fact I was missed.

Last night (or should I say early morning) when I started going through the posts, I realized that I was away for much longer than I realized. I enjoyed the catching up and feeling the energy of each one of you.

My mom and dad had been divorced and not spoken to each other in 57 years. He passed on her birthday. Ironic, huh? They say that deaths either tear a family apart or draw it closer. This one drew us closer. I now call my step-mom, Mom. And it finally dawned on me that I have a sister! She has always been there from the time I met my real dad when I was 24. They adopted her when she was 9.

Funny, the week before my dad passed we got our first Christmas card and when I opened it I was so excited and shouted, "It's from my sister!" I had never done that before or acknowledged her in that way. I vowed right then and there to be a sister to her and to ask my step-mom if I could call her mom. A week later to the day my dad was gone.

The day after the funeral my sister and I spent the entire day together. We went out to eat, went to the grave as we didn't have a graveside service, and went Christmas Shopping. We have been talking on the phone and exchanging emails. I didn't know if she felt the same way about me until I received an email from her saying she enjoyed our chats as she never had a sister and (as she put it) I LOVE IT!!! When her adoptive mom, my step-mom, passes she will only have her husband, little children, and me. I am glad I can be a part of her life.

My step-mom is very stoic. The only time I saw her start to breakdown was when we were leaving and I asked her if I could call her mom. She stated that she had always addressed the cards and letters with Dad and Ann because she didn't want me to think she was trying to take my mom's place. She had wanted me to call her mom. The Christmas card she sent us was signed, Love Mom. Oh, ya, dad passed on December 9th.

Again thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I hope to be around for a while now.

Blessings to you all and a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

It is really good to see you back here, Sue. I have also missed you. It sounds like you have had productive time away from the forum, and even though you lost one family member, you gained 2 'new' ones. Welcome back.
