| We’re here for a moment and then we’re gone Only for a moment in the vastness of eternity Wasting time chasing after rainbows And gold that isn’t there Chasing after money That only goes down the drain Or up the chimney into the void All to make facades that fall down in the end When all is done and we see it has been in futility Chasing after treasures that rot and rust And things here and gone Wasting time chasing after rainbows We’re here only for a moment and then we’re gone Only for a moment in the vastness of eternity When all is done and we see it has all been in futility |

| Maybe what is important is the chasing, the journey, not the gold or the destination. It is what we learn along the way of that chasing and what we figure out is really important.
In Abe's book, To Beirut and Back, he speaks of embattled Beirut and his realization he had lost everything, but in that he also found out he really still had what was most valuable.
We can chase after things that will rust and rot or just live and watch what goes on around us and one day hope that we'll figure this whole thing out.
Good poem.

| Hate to admit it, but you're right, Gordon. So is Carol. It's the chase that makes life interesting. |

Carol It is the journey that's important in life, not the destination. It's not so much where you end up, but how you get there. |
