Road trip Empty
PostSubject: Road trip   Road trip EmptyTue Nov 11, 2008 8:26 am

My wife and I just returned from a two week road trip back east to visit my wife's sister and her family. We had a great time and an enjoyable drive. We drove through and saw a lot of country neither of us had seen before. Going east we took a northern route through Cheyenne, WY, Lincoln, NE, Kansas City, MO, St. Louis, MO, Padukah, KY, Nashville, TN, Chattanoga, TN and finally through Atlanta, GA. My wife's sister lives just east of Atlanta in a small town called Bethlehem. We stayed there and visited for 5 days. Didn't do much site seeing. Most of the time was just visiting and catching up.

We took a southern route coming home which took us through Birmingham, AL, Tupalo, MS, Memphis, TN, Oklahoma City, OK, Amarillo, TX, Albuquerque, NM and Salt Lake City, UT. It was a wonderful trip filled with many new experiences. If I came close to any fellow writers, please accept my apology for not stopping by. Time was tight and we had to keep on the go.

Charlie

Charlie! How wonderful! Isn't our country just awesome!!

I have driven those same routes and easily could have been the truck you passed up ... except I wasn't on those routes during the past few weeks.

Too bad. We could have met at a truck stop for coffee or something.

Though wait!!! I was just in Amarillo a few days ago!!! But like you, we were just cruising through ... and it was like 2 a.m!!!

I hope you got some good photos. It sounds like the visit was really nice.

(Isn't it nice that gas prices are going down? Under $2 gallon in Texas.)

Nice trip. A few years back we made the one through Oklahoma City, Amarillo and Albuquerque. May even have seen Elf whizzing by in her truck.
It was your title that grabbed my attention, though, because in 1980 (or was it 1979?) I had a story in Alfred Hitchcock called "Road Trip." It was a mystery centering on major league baseball and I titled it "The Game in Cincinnati" but the editors changed it.

It's good you had a good trip, Charlie. But isn't it nice to be back home?
