So it's been nearly four years since I last posted in this forum.

So much has happened since then. You can read about what I've been up to on my updated profile.

I see many original members still here and I hope to reconnect with you again.

There just never seems enough hours in the day to cross everything off on my to do list. So please forgive me if I take too long to answer messages or comment on posts.

Hope to chat with you all very soon.

Good to hear from you, Karina. The forum is very quiet these days. Most of the members still visit, but they prefer to connect withn one another and their friends and family on facebook.

I started in 2005 with just one book, Mr. Planemaker's Flying Machine. Ten years later, I have written and published three novels, a collection of short stories, a book of Christmas stories, a small book of poetry, and a children's picture book. I also edited and published three anthologies in the Forever series: stories and poems written by 70+ authors from all over the world. I also edited and published three books by individual authors.

In 2005, the bashers at Absolute Write told me that, unless I could sign a contract with a publisher, I was wasting my time and would never be recognised as an author. Well maybe I didn't set out to become a recognised author.  Maybe my aims and objectives were to learn about the publishing world and see what I could and could not do in publishing. I have my limitations and work within them. The skills I learned enabled me to bring back into print my husband's first published textbook, and produce an ebook that contains mathematical formulae and is easy to navigate. Looking back, I wonder at the workload and how I managed to reach the point of becoming a publisher of so many diverse books. I have made very little money, but the contacts I've made are priceless.

Well said.  I was in one of your anthologies, Forever Friends.

I wanted to prove to myself and to my English teacher that I could write a book. I was 16 at the time. After many agent rejections and feeling desperate, I went with a vanity publisher. A huge mistake and one I'm still paying for 15 years later. Moving on 20+ years. I now have two collections of flash and short fiction, poetry, prose of all genres. A YA supernatural thriller. A four book series called the OUTLAWS and a romantic fantasy. As well as around 20+ freelance publications. I never made enough money so I could retire and write full time.

Unfortunately, my health became bad and I was retired at 40. I lost my love for reading and writing. And so I became a VA. That then grew. My client list grew and so I stared narrating, and creating book trailers, that then expanded into promotional material as well. And that is what I have been doing for the last 3 years now.
I have plenty of WIP to work on, when I'm able and back in the zone. I don't know if I will ever write again. For now I get enough enjoyment helping other authors grow. And I still get the odd weekly sale, so it's not a total loss.   lol

I'm hoping to being some fresh blood into the forum if that's okay?

Congratulations for accomplishing your goals - overcoming health issues - and finding new goals.  Now, if I could just get my books to show up on my posts like you and Shelagh!  Welcome back.  Shelagh is right that many people went to Facebook.  I prefer here and am happy to expand what has become a smaller club of posters with a larger club of those who look in silently.

I'm having a bit of a slump - but other writers inspire me to jump in again.  Thanks.
