Did you sell books at the event?  The pictures are great.  What do you mean, pay for autographs?  You mean they don't sign for free?  Did we miss the memo?  I'm grateful anyone wants me to sign my autograph. Charge?  That's the height of crass in my book unless the payments go to charities....

Yes, we sold books.

All of the celebrities charged for autographs and pictures. Most of them charged $40. Now, that's $40 for and autograph AND $40 for a pic. Shatner was the most expensive and $80 for each. But, he had an overflow crowd every session. The photo that I include in the blog was taken at a prime moment when he was within plain view of those milling around. If you could snap a pic, then you got one free. Some of the celebrities had watchers that discouraged the 'free' pics. Well, the lines at some of the booths were small, so it was an easy shot if you wanted to take a chance. I was happy to walk around and look at everybody. I can tell people, 'Yeah, I saw William Shatner and Robert Englund."

I've never been a fan of celebrity.  I've interviewed many and they vary in their charm and lack of it.  I think charging for autographs and photographs is still crass unless it supports a charity.  Let people pay to go through the door for the event, but don't charge for an autograph - so so much!  I'm glad you were able to enjoy the event, however, and that a lot of celebrities were there.  I don't mind being in their company, I'm just not impressed.
