One day, I might get over my fear...

I'm the last person to give a man dating advice - but I have many friends and their children who have done very well with Internet dating, many in satisfying marriages.  They used good sense.

I tried it once.  The fellow said as I walked toward the table, "You don't look like your picture."  I could only respond by saying, "You don't either."  It went downhill from there...though he had an element of charm, he was so busy bragging about himself it didn't have a chance.

My friend's son married his lovely wife (now two children later) and had a really great girlfriend from the Internet before that.  He lives in New York.

Another friend met and married a man she met on the Internet and it's five years or more now and they are still traveling and enjoying life together.

All it took was one disappointing experience to make it not a choice for me.  The best is to be introduced by friends; but it is amazing how friends differ in their concept of your choices for companionship from your own.

Next best is to belong to organizations that include many singles like Chambers of Commerce, Young Professionals, etc.  I would also think that hawking books at conferences would be an entre.  I haven't found it so, however.
