I don't usually read stuff like this, but this guy's story is compelling. If he writes a book, I'll buy it.

Very good.

It reminds me of one of my favorite Richard Bach's books, Nothing by Chance, about the time he and some friends took their old WWI era biplanes out for a cross-country barnstorming summer.

Check out that first paragraph with "Look Inside."

LC,
loved the article and it gave me an idea.
In 1997, I made a wanderung. I took a hike with a backpack and started walking from Wissembourg, France, south through France, then over the Rhein through the Black Forest of Germany to Lake Constance on the Swiss/Austrian border. Along the way I met many people and their kindness and comments could make an interesting story - at least to those with a spirit of adventure.
I made the trip to follow the footsteps of my ancestors on my mother's side. The Firestones. I learned much. The trek was not all roses. The blisters on my feet and finding a place to rest at night was not easy to deal with. But I made it.

Ann -that book looks good. I've already ordered five novels from Amazon though, as part of my research on how to write a novel, so it will have to get in line.

Abe -when we lived in Germany we did some volksmarching but never a wanderung. Smile Sounds like you might have a good story there, too!
