Hello!
My name is Donna Anastasi. I wrote a popular gerbil care book in 2005 and a chinchilla care book in 2008 (Bowtie press). My first novel Spin the Plate was published May 2010 (Black Rose Writing). I just posted a shortened version of the novel in its original form as a kindle ebook "Spin the Plate Short Story".

I'd love to exchange ideas on how to promote the novel. I was thinking of hiring an affordable professional publicist. Has anyone heard of Stephanie Starner-Greiner @bookpublishing.com?

I look forward from learning from the experiences of other published authors here. Donna

Hi Donna,

Welcome to the forum! I wouldn't recommend paying to promote a work of fiction. You would need to sell a great many books to earn enough royalties to cover the cost of hiring a publicist.

Thanks Shelagh! I'm not really looking to make money from my writing. All my book are more educational/inspirational, and I would like to get more exposure for them, especially the novel. I'm wondering if a publicist would do a better job than just doing the same things on your own as an author? Or would save me some time, given that I do have a demanding "day job". Donna

Donna,
have you asked the publicist for references? People that have done work for can be good sources to determine how effective the services are.
Welcome to the forum. Look forward to your participation.

Thanks for the ideas and information. I don't mind spending a little money, just don't want to throw it away or have it be counter productive.
