| The government should give tax breaks to no one. Who cares how many kids you have, what you spend your money on and whether you are gay or straight? Everyone should pay based on what they make. Everyone should pay something-- a penny for the truly poverty stricken. That amount can be found on the street.
Sexual orientation need not be advertised. It is not necessary to brag about it either. It is private business. When I watch the news, it seems to be the only thing they talk about.
How I see it. |

| The worst of the tax breaks is the EIC -"earned" income credit. It allows people who pay NO taxes to get tax money back. |

| Dear LC, Poor people who pay no taxes still have taxes taken out of their paychecks. I do not begrudge them the money they get because they are working.
What I am against is churches not paying tax. In Sun City Center, Florida, a new church has leased the old Publix space in a strip mall and calls themselves "The Crossings Church." Who knows what or whom they worship. In another little mall, The Tabernacle College..... That is much mor a rip off than some poor person making 17,000 a year with three children getting EIC. My humble opinion. Love, Betty |

| I agree with LC. Earned income credit was designed to benefit the rich. Poor people don't have EIC. If they did, they wouldn't be considered poor. |

| I am also sorry for the hatred shown by many Christians towards the poor and underprivileged. |

| My eighty -some year old cousin announced his engagement on Facebook today.
They, he and John, have been together for years. His sister says he won't go to heaven. I know God has a way for saving him. |

| I heard something interesting in church today that I had heard before and it slips my mind. Jesus never said anything that is in the New Testament. He spoke in Aramaic, the spoken language of the time. Over two generations after his death they started writing about what he had said and taught in the written language, Greek. The King James Bible was the most standard English translation of the Greek translated from a spoken Aramaic language. And some people take the bible as "literal?"
Jesus lived in a time and place when priests were Jewish and lawyers were experts in the Torah. Regardless of what he may or may not have said, even the words today have different meanings. The writers of the Bible had their own feelings and beliefs that they likely interjected into their translations.
The best thing in my opinion is to take the Bible as a great book full of poetry, beautiful prose, history, and music and regard its statements in light of today's context. Since man created all the rules in churches, it's best to separate feelings from a specific church and look instead for common understandings. One thing is certain, Jesus was in favor of love and treating people with compassion. That's a good starting place. |

| I. personally, my opinion, do not think that a person's sexual choices have much to do with heaven or hell, unless it is on this earth where humanity can make anything hell. A person's sexuallity is such a small, small part of who they are. Yet, it becomes something because of ignorance of the many facets that the human person can be. People are still back in the dark ages where sex was evil, no matter who had it.
I am against sex with children, people who do not wish to have it, forced on anyone sex, and anything that controls another person. I do not care if a person masturbates, dreams odd dreams, or any other thing that does not hurt nother person. i am sure I have not said this well, but I truely believe that sexual fantacy cannot be government regulated. I hope not, at least. Love, Betty |

Giving him eternal life. Some believers think he will not and cannot go to heaven. I think he can go as easily as the rest of us. We are all sinners. No one I know is perfect. |

| 6/30/2013 Alice I think your cousin will go to heaven, Jesus loved everyone. What I can't stand is the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church, they have gay priests, and many priests were pedophiles and yet they condem other people who live their lives and don't bother anyone , I guess that's why at 18 I walked away from the Catholic Church , I couldn't believe some of the things I was hearing and if you told a priest in confession " Oh I cursed, etc." you had to say 25 Our Fathers and 25 Hail Marys, that's when I came to the conclusion I can talk to God anytime , anywhere. I do go into a Church when no one is there for peace and talk to God one on one. I'm sure the Church won't be too happy if they hear about a book I got an idea for titled: " The Last Pope," it has a shocking ending. Cheers.........Joe....... |

| Jesus Christ walked in sandals and was a modest man who talked in parables and taught love and compassion. How "Christianity" took the teachings of this spiritually evolved person and turned them into laws that bear no resemblance to his actions or beliefs is amazing. However, in the era in which Christianity evolved, people were governed by religious laws so it was natural to create a religious dogma from simple lessons about a spiritual life.
Fortunately, if we have escaped dogma, are well-read and have an open mind, we can decide for ourselves what makes sense for our own lives. For many people, there is a wonderful comfort in a set of rules and ideas that cannot be broken and a belief in a literal heaven and hell. They may surely be correct and deserve their comfort. Each of us hears our own God within, and He may tell each of us something different.
Some people find comfort in believing that they are the chosen few, that everyone else is a sinner and damned or needing some conversion to equal the chosen. Maybe they are correct, too. From everything I know about Christ, he treated all people equally and actually told stories that seem to indicate that worthiness simply exists.
Many people wrote in that Bible that is more a reflection of the writers' beliefs than anything else. For starters, the writers were all men - and to write down Christ's words they had to translate from Aramaic to Greek. Then it's translated from Greek to English. We all know the risks in literal and idiomatic translations. Then it's translated to modern English (which I don't like because it is not poetic). Then each religion picks and chooses from the Bible those passages that suit their purpose as do individuals.
Whew! |

| D.K. You wrapped it up well. I believe that everyone knows the truth by the prompts given to them. Those prompts come in the form of "gut feelings" that tell us right from wrong. |

| I'm sorry, Alice. My question was inappropriate. I was reading your statement: God will find a way to save him. Since, to my thinking, such as it is, God is the way, then it isn't something He has to find.
But that's just my perception. I shouldn't have gotten hung up on semantics.
