I thought it was fun to watch...lol...

Curious what the polls will show who won this one (not that I care about the polls... but I think they are entertaining).

I did not really care for the moderator, she put too much of herself in there.

Huggles,
Katja

Different strokes, I guess. I thought she did a far better job of maintaining control. Didn't stay tuned to hear the pundits. It has been a long full day. I will wait until tomorrow to decide if anyone won or not.

Have a good night, all

The commentator could have been better, I would

have chosen someone stronger and better.. I think it

was a very weak debate...........Biden has to learn to

keep hios trap shut when it's not his turn, very bad..

I loved Joe Biden and his mouth with pearly white teeth. I liked his good humored approach.

It was very realistic, actually - so much of what was being said was laughable.

CNN Poll so far :

Ryan.....48 % Approval

Biden....44% Approval

I think no one knows who's voting for who, the American

public never kisses and tells who their voting for, thank God

it'll all be over and everyone can get back to normal lives...

Cheers..Joe..

Other points of view:
http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/purdum/2012/10/joe-biden-wins-vice-presidential-debate

Quote :
“Say What You Will About Biden . . .”
So many assessments of the vice president (including this one!) begin with that sentiment—and go on to sing his praises. His performance in the debate against Paul Ryan illustrates why.

By Todd S. Purdum

...it made no sense to me to think that he would do anything other than his level best in last night’s debate at Centre College, in Danville, Kentucky. And within the opening minutes, it was clear that he had. He was priest to Paul Ryan’s flummoxed altar boy, Scoutmaster to Ryan’s nervous, tongue-tied knot-tier. His smile veered—yes—between amused and condescending, depending on the honey or vinegar with which he referred to Ryan as “my friend.”

But in a mirror image of last week’s Mile High triumph for Mitt Romney, it was Ryan who kept his head down and looked to his notes. He is no dope, and he had his moments, and held his own against Biden’s relentless attack. But Ryan needed his notes, because he was on the ropes throughout.
------------------------------------
Ryan could not explain how his budget would add up. He was vulnerable to Biden’s charge that the Republicans act as if “this recession has come down from the sky” (instead of from deliberate choices that preceded Obama’s tenure) and that Ryan had voted to put “two wars on a credit card.” He did offer powerful testimony as to how his Catholic faith has influenced his view on abortion (though Biden responded with an equally thoughtful expression of his own views, and one that probably played better in a pluralistic society).
-------------------------------
At one point, Biden declared, “I’ve had it up to here,” with the Republicans’ fiscal fantasy (and Grover Norquist’s famous pledge requiring prospective candidates never to raise taxes). He noted, with relish, that Ryan had written him two letters requesting funds from the much-scorned Obama stimulus, to which Ryan all but seemed to gulp as he said, “On two occasions, we advocated for constituents.”

After the first debate, the general consensus seemed to be that Romney won the debate because he was aggressive and kept Obama from voicing his stand on the issues.

This morning, the general consensus seems to be that Biden lost the debate because he was aggressive and kept Ryan from voicing his stand on the issues.

Go figure.

Thank you Ann. You have the right analysis. No one else seems to see that as clearly. I saw it immediately and am glad you expressed it.

As for the moderators, Jim Lehrer had no control at all. At least Martha attempted to moderate, but from the beginning Ryan had the same tactic as Romney - memorized speeches that they were going to deliver whether time was up or not and whether they were true or not and whether they were on or off topic and or totally irrelevant or lies.

Both President Obama and V.P. Biden were more honest in their approach, coming from a position of knowledge and truth. After President Obama was lambasted for his quiet reserve in the face of bold faced lying and memorized speeches, V.P. Biden made sure he wasn't going down as quiet and reserved.

I will credit Ryan for some good memorization and telling the truth about his plans to legislate abortion and his position as a Catholic. Women need to take note of this mark of truth. I hope women behind the voting curtain understand the power that men are still attempting to wield by controlling insurance and choices for women regarding reproduction. It is not a spiritual issue; it is an issue of power. If "life" were the issue we would be talking about capital punishment, gun control, prisons, food insecurity, disease and world health.

Health issues for men and women differ; insurance should cover each, including their differences. No man should control a woman's health any more than a woman should control a man's. With the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies were finally forced to charge equal premiums for men and women. Of course the anti-women Romney/Ryan bunch want that changed back to higher premiums for women's health care by ending the Affordable Care Act. Health screenings without co-pays both through medicare and through the wonderful Planned Parenthood health screening programs save women's lives. Of course, the anti-women Romney/Ryan bunch want to destroy Planned Parenthood. Talk about the founding fathers - their dust must be reconstituting with this goings on.

For all the steps forward the female gender has earned, there is always a male or religious dogma pushing her back into pregnant and barefoot. Why she keeps letting them is a mystery. It is a loss to the nation that the intellect of so many women is not valued sufficiently to have an even number of men and women in the Congress and more women breaking ceilings in board rooms. It is a pity that a woman needs to act like a man in order to be heard - and then when she does - some republican says she was "unladylike" or describes women as any other cow, pig or animal. Or says rape has varieties and that some women are raped easier than others. My God, what century are we living in? Where did Ryan come from? And Romney? and the rest of the men that don't understand their losses by not respecting women?

Some men get it. Bless our E. Don Harpe who has put out so much good chatter on Facebook that I'd give him a hug if his wife wasn't so pretty she might protest. Our own Abe March has done an inspiring job and there may be others I have missed. A real man wants to value women for all their differences, similarities and intellectual capabilities. A man without character needs to debase women still, reduce them to less than so he thinks he stands taller. I have said many times that women are into details - the very details that would take care of the nation's finances instead of talking about them. Behind every successful man, there is still a strong woman. Look around...you don't have to look far. Why do you think Ann Romney is so hot on being First Lady? She wants her chance to be a somebody like the rest of the First Ladies, not just the wife of Romney, the businessman that she has supported all his life with a soft place to land and the freedom from the details of everyday life. And he knows - he knows what she put up with - and he wants to gift her that White House. He thinks money will buy it for her. We need to prove him wrong - that there are some things money cannot buy. The demeaning of women is one of them.

Why?

Quote :
How Biden's Debate Performance Can Swing the Election

On the face of it, Romney should be walking away with the election. Any challenger would love to be running in the face of the economic adversity, conspiracy theories and more that have challenged this administration.

But they're not.

And now, after Joe Biden drew some of the sharpest contrasts of the campaign on both substance and style, 43 million people were given a clear choice.

Abortion, taxes, foreign policy?

Clear contrasts.

Details?

Well, Congressman Ryan, for all of his knowledge of the budget and his years in Congress was pretty light on the details.

And that's just the beginning...

Quote :
And the fact that most Republicans are calling the debate a draw is in and of itself is proof that they think Biden performed well. Believe me, most surrogates don't run out and call things a tie when they can call it a win for their side.

I don't think it was at all a bad day for Joe Biden. He said what he thought and I like his thoughts.
