| Good Morning!
I'm currently working on an internet system that allows authors, published or not, to promote their books on the internet. This is being done in partnership with a Dutch publishing house which has English language titles.
Background I'm a published author in non-fiction but like many I was disappointed by sales;-). It seemed that the general advice to write a blog, articles, maintain a facebook site, etc. would require writing another book's worth of content just to promote the first title!
I'm also a Search Engine Optimization specialist so a few years back I put the two together for one of my unpublished titles 'How to really buy a property'. Google the title for that website. This has been very successful in terms of sales to the point where I question wether publishing it at all would have any positive benefit.
The System We're now working on a similar template system that will be available to all authors. Any person can create a website to promote their book and the system will create a search engine friendly set of pages. There will be a free service and a paid service with more bells and whistles. The pages which are created also help potential buyers (and perhaps even publishers!) get a better feel for the writers style before they decide to buy and so goes far beyond the Amazon preview.
Your Help I'm now looking for fresh eyes on the website that the system creates with thoughts about useability, would you want it, questions about how it works, etc.
We're using a published title, 'Buying Property in Poland', as a test case, although we are currently now loading about half a dozen other books. The page for this particular title is at: buying-property-in-poland.bookpreview.info
Your thoughts and feedback would be much appreciated. |

| That doesn't answer the question, who are you? Do you have a name? |

| Right!
My name's Tim, I own a website development company. We're currently developing a website application for authors who want to promote their book(s) online. Not just the usual 'Add your title, blurb and a book cover image' - but a very comprehensive site that will bring in the right traffic and increase book sales.
The full ins and outs of the system - how it works, why it works, links to demos and examples, etc - are on the website howtopromoteabook dot biz.
Anything else you want to know - please feel free to ask. It all helps us with developing the system in the right direction for authors. |

| It's referred to as a "display site." They've been around a long time. I've not seen any instance where a display site launched a successful book. Perhaps this one will offer something different. If there's no link, such an announcement is premature.

| Al, your five-book display is pretty impressive. Are the sales equally impressive? I have just finished a promotional brochure to advertise one book locally, a one fold, four-page for consignment sellers and organizations where I propose to present. I wish there was a way I could figure out how to display it here, but I am not that clever. If anyone is willing to review it, please send me a pm and I will send it to you for a review. It's in publisher. If anyone wanted to use it as a template, I put 12 hours into it and would be glad to get more use from my labors.
Unless you can tell me how to display it as Al has so beautifully displayed his books. I would rather display my book covers than have the links at the end of my name. I don't think anyone bothers going to the links - but they see the book covers.
Anyway, hope everyone's weekend was thoughtful, grateful and restful. |

| Feedback may be a little late, but, I like the site. Seems easy enough, however, how would I, as an author of Memoirs, a biography or fiction be able to use this tool to my advantage? it seems more like a site for a business related book. For that matter a page like that seems like it would do exceptionally well if you were to add the SEO keywords to optimize the page. I'm sure this page would do as well or even better than the first one... but for a business genre book. |
