I don't think I would have posted the review. When a review is negative I send a private message to the author or simply tell the author I can't give a review.

I know opinions vary regarding bad reviews. Some say to warn other readers not to waste their time, bad reviews are critical. However, it's always buyer beware because we all have different opinions.

I have reviewed works that I gave back to the author. I told the author I could not give it a good review - one was boring and long and needed a lot more edits. She had it published by a vanity press that included strong edits, and it is getting good reviews.

Night Corridor Empty

I know, it's a tricky thing. I review for three sites and for one of those sites I'm to send a messag to the author if the review drops below 3 stars. The others I'm to write a relatively positive review. For my site I try to be more honest and explain some of the problems I find in the books. Most of my reviews are on books I enjoyed but I have included a few other lower ranked reviews in the past. One of the first books I reviewed for my site, I took a pass on with the other site because I just could not find anything positive to report. I've taken passes on several books and most of those I don't put on my site basically because I couldn't not even finish them. If I can't even finish the book I won't review it.

Just this past weekend I was asked by one of my review sites if I could tackle a particularly difficult book even the manager of the site had problems with. I started it and was so overwhelmed and confused within thirty pages I cried mercy. She understood and agreed it was a difficult read.
