Finding suitable pen names Empty
PostSubject: Finding suitable pen names   Finding suitable pen names EmptyWed Jan 11, 2012 5:54 am

Hi guys,

I know this will sound very 1980s but I've to got to find a suitable surname for my debut novel which is about to be published.

It's got to rhyme with Stella.

Did any of u have the same glitch before they got published or am I simply OTT/ODD?

Let me know what you think of the following surnames.

Flint, K, Stiles, Virdo.

Seriously guys, how did u go about this (imagine you're in my shoes and u've got a terrible surname which nobody would be able to pronounce?)

thx!

Flint, K, Stiles ad Virdo do not rhyme with Stella.

Fella does.

Bella does.

And even Cinderella does.

Thanks so much guys. Love Della and Bella as names. But I made a mistake, I should say not rhyme with Stella but sound well with Stella. We are looking for an easy and catchy surname to accompany Stella.

Really did anyof you have this prob?

It was a hundred times easier picking up names for my characters than choosing a suitable pen name. And I am not that particular. Lack of inspiration I suppose.

Cheers!

How about Stella Dallas?

Finding suitable pen names Stella-dallas-37

Quote :
Stella Dallas is a 1937 American film based on the Olive Higgins Prouty novel [published in 1920] of the same name. It was directed by King Vidor, and stars Barbara Stanwyck, John Boles, and Anne Shirley. Stanwyck was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, and Shirley for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. The film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry
Might be fun. Read the synopsis on the wiki page and see what you think.

Just me.

Dallas and Starlight both sound interesting and relevant, thanks Anna and Al. I'll run them by my publishers. Btw Al, Starlight is one of my favourite songs from Muse... but I'll listen to the jazz tune as well and let u know....

Great pic Ann thx.

I didn't have too much trouble choosing my pen name.

I have a very common Spanish last name ... that can be spelled about six different ways. It is common, yet I am always spelling it for people. So my pen name's last name is a very easy to spell name.

I think it is best to go with easy to spell.

Go with a name that flows. Stella is a two syllable name. Try matching it with a three syllable last name to give it more bounce and flow. Avoid a last name that starts with the same sound.

For example:

Stella Delaney sounds "bouncier" and more fun than Stella Albert.
