buzz words Empty
PostSubject: buzz words   buzz words EmptySat Dec 17, 2011 5:31 am

We've lived thorugh buzz words or colloquialisms. For kids, in the recent past the word, "cool" was the in thing. Now it is "awesome". My grandkids use it. Here is an email I received from my granddaughter, Natalie.
While visiting in November, she got hooked on "Star Trek - the second generation" and took a liking to the Romulans. Here's what she wrote;

Romulans by Natalie Long:
"Ok. Well I would like to tell you about Romulans, because they are awesome. If you ever meet a Romulan, direct them to my house. I will now show you some pictures of Romulans because they are awesome. You will see that they have pointy ears, which help make them awesome. Vulcans do too, but they are not as awesome because Vulcans are boring. Really boring. So, Romulans are awesomer. Period."

Note: There is a photo of the Romulans and she wrote:
"See. They are awesomer. It is obvious now. Right?
Now I will show You some other pictures, and you will see how wimpy they are compared to romulans."

(Then she showed pictures of the Star Trek crew that she refers to as wimps.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I now know what to search for when seeking a gift for her. Perhaps I can find a Romulan mask.

Clearly, the opposite pole to "awesome" is "boring," and for young people in every time, I think - whatever the "buzz" words were - everything is generally one or the other, with no thing in between. Smile

buzz words 3971 Merry Christmas, all,

AWESOME! I like awesome. It beats "rad!"

My grandson loves it too.
