Author Review Group

Me and a few other authors are putting together a review group. We are looking for six more people to participate. We are going to swap reviews in such a way that I am not reviewing the person's book who is reviewing mine, and so on. We will each review four books from others within the group. Once we are finished reviewing the books, we are to pass them on to someone else to read and pass on. If you don't have anyone to pass your books on to, I supposed you could always donate them to a library or something. The key is to have our books circulate as far as possible.

It would be helpful if we were all from different states, or different countries.

We are trying something new to support each other. It should be fun.

It's a great idea; you may want to be sure you have an "out" clause for a very poorly written book. That's why I quit doing reviews. I didn't have the heart to tell the writer that I could not get past the first ten pages or that I kept hoping it would get better and then it ended.

Also, a review format is a good idea. There are professional review standards about what should and should not be included.

You are absolutely right. That is one of the things we are talking about. We should definately know ahead of time what format we are to use. Anything below your expectations should be dealt with via email rather than in a public forum. I pray I don't encounter such a book. If my book is that bad, I would definately want to know so I can take the input into consideration before finishing the other books in the trilogy.

If I don't like the books I review, there is still hope that they get into the hands of someone who will. Some readers are more particular than others.

Okay, so we are still short five authors. My book is science fiction but it was written to appeal to young girls, so it would be nice to have a woman or two in the group. Don't be shy. Let's diversify.

This sounds like a very good idea, and I would love to get involved, but I have a stack of reading to do that's going to take at least six months to get through, including another review project.

Perhaps a future group then.
