| This thread is for anything that happened recently that made you feel good. Al's review of The Power of Persuasion made my day! |

| Moi???I do have to add though, Keith Urban ain't no swamp cookie, and a whole lot of the good feelings from this video have to do with watching two close friends and contemporaries, both, incidentally, born in NZ but raised in Australia, each doing their own thing, but together, playing off each other. They are both so clearly having fun. That's where it comes from - this time, anyway. The way they end it is so totally cool. Ann |

| Cutting my meotoprolol in half. I lost weight and the pill was too strong--dropped my blood pressure too low.
I felt like I was dying. |

I think Alice felt good after she cut the dosage in half (the full strength medication made her feel rotten).

| I found this statement while I was googling, and it made me feel good: http://northstargallery.com/pages/artist.htm - Quote :
- As an artist, I am continuously awed by the exquisite beauty and wonder of creation and its profound implications regarding man's capacity for transcendence. Within our being, moment by moment, each of us holds the ability to be both hero and villain. Indeed, it is only when we understand and embrace this reality that we can hope to rise above the competing duality, choosing hero. Carl Jung defines man's "shadow" as an inherent part of his nature and as the source of much of man’s passion, comedy, fear, creativity, heroism, striving and transcendence. Since the beginning of his existence, man has expressed and explored issues of "Soul" in the form of stories and myths which offer clues to the spiritual potentialities of human life. Through the telling and retelling of myths, we evoke their power in our own lives. As a storyteller, images serve as a powerful medium for the exploration and telling of myths and are an important tool in the continuing exploration of man's very nature.
Joseph Campbell observes "One thing that comes out in myths is that at the bottom of the abyss comes the voice of salvation. The blackest moment is the moment when the message of transformation is going to come. Out of darkness comes the light."
This is a powerful force that sets the stage for the exercise of free will and a continuing encounter with the deepest issues of soul. This duality is essential to defining and understanding our nature as an inherent part of God's creation and offers insight into the human condition and man's potential for redemption . That is why being a storyteller seems so important. Those of us here are all storytellers, through one means or another. That's what we share, no matter how different we may seem on the surface. Just me. Ann |

| I'm actually not as enthused as I should be; more like confused. The decision to call me was prompted by some back-and-forth emails I initiated with my project manager. Once a year I contact him to ask how sales are going. He gives me the numbers, but also gives me the impression he's disappointed with them. I know my book isn't a monster seller like many of theirs are, but mine is a niche book, whereas their monster sellers are in larger fields. I asked if they plan to put my book on Coursesmart or otherwise digitize it, and he said no, they only do that with their "strong sellers." (I also recently sent my acquisitions editor -a different guy- a LinkedIn request and he ignored it). I'm not sure if they're just being asshats or what, because I KNOW my book is in at least 40 schools, and it even has a Cram 101 manual. Why would Cram 101 make a manual of a poor selling book? Anyhow, my editor said that the contracts person makes the decision on whether to revise, and forwarded my emails to her. She contacted me right away (copying him), saying that our emails were timely, as she wanted to discuss a revision. So I don't know what to think. I know my royalty percentage isn't good, maybe they're being this way to keep it that way, or maybe they really ARE disappointed and the revision is just squeaking through. Maybe I need to ask my agent if he is interested in repping this book because I'm not good at dealing with these sharks. Not sure what to do. |

| When you talk to the contracts person and your agent, that Cram 101 manual would be a good point to bring up as a reminder of your books value.

| Feel good: A group of us meets weekly at Hooters after a band rehearsal. Because we're regulars the girls all know us. One of them, a 19-year-old blonde, noticed last night that I had gotten a haircut. She said, "It makes you look younger." That made me feel good. So I asked, "How old does it make me look?" She said, "About 71, I'd say."
Feel-good is a fleeting fancy. |

Next time: "Thanks. My 90 years doesn't show?" |

| We have officially adopted our daughter Esther's Yorkshire Terrier Milly. Due to her moving house she could no longer keep her. After the demise of both our cats she is a welcome addition to the family. She is so well behaved and has such a loving caring personality. Three walks a day, good for my legs and lots of cuddles when needed. Now that has cheered me up! |

| I am so happy. Our daughter, who hated school, and who we despaired of getting through high school has just published her third book. She teaches University now.
