On our planet itself all dividing horizons have been shattered. We can no longer hold our loves at home and project our aggressions elsewhere; for on this spaceship Earth there is no elsewhere any more. And no mythology that continues to speak or to teach of elsewhere and outsiders meets the requirement of this hour. And so, to return to our opening question: What is—or what is to be—the new mythology? It is—and will forever be, as long as our human race exists—the old, everlasting, perennial mythology, in its “subjective sense,” poetically renewed in terms neither of a remembered past nor of a projected future, but of now: addressed, that is to say, not to the flattery of “peoples,” but to the waking of individuals in the knowledge of themselves, not simply as egos fighting for place on the surface of this beautiful planet, but equally as centers of Mind at Large—each in his own way at one with all, and with no horizons. Myths to Live By Joseph Campbell

| No more scapegoats - no more projecting our own personal fears and prejudices onto others.
What a world we could create if we just looked after our home place and accepted our neighbors.
Just me.

This is true. And we get defensive. But we can try, can't we? For instance, I am sitting here with this goo on my face, which I will need to wash off after a few minutes. And than.. And Then..I am actually going to put make-up on it. I will actually look like my avatar. The last time I put on make-up was when I took the picture with my videocam. What has this to do with territorialism? Well, I am going to dinner at my oldest daughter's house tonight, and one of the guests will be Jaycie's Pop-pop (Lyn's father - note that's one-n-Lyn, Dave's wife and Jaycie's mother; not two-n-n-Lynn, my daughter.) Pop-pop and I have had a friendly banter going since 1999, over whether San Antonio is a better place to live than Middletown, NY. It's kind of a round-about way of laying down our territories, and cautioning each other about whose home is home for our respective children. Now that we share a granddaughter, we seem to be working toward a truce. For instance, as we were leaving the diner where we all had breakfast this morning, he actually said that he was beginning to like San Antonio, and I responded that Middletown had milder summers. So, since he has made this concession, I am going to be very nice to him tonight, and actually try to look my best. Just to let him know we can share. Ann |

| Dear Ann, I hope you have a lovely time this night. I understand the sharing of territory thing. But I consider it is also a matter of inclusion. It is very nice. The adults lay down their arms, the children can then include both parents, and it is a win all around for the baby grands.! Right now, David and I have been together more years than my children's father and I were, to the tune of 30 years. Long ago we all laid down the hatchet and came to terms with living. Happiness all around. Life is too short. Love, Betty |

| Perhaps that is the whole of the trouble of this world in one word. Space. We are not comfortable packed like sardines in a can, but a lot of the world is. No personal dignity or space to be and no options. Love, Betty |
