chasing a dream Empty
PostSubject: chasing a dream   chasing a dream EmptyFri Mar 11, 2011 9:26 pm

For many years I’ve been chasing a dream I just can’t seem to catch
Reminds me of a puppy, just learning to play fetch
He runs after the stick as it flies through the air
Landing in a tree, he just can’t reach it there

Everything I’ve always wanted, also seems just out of reach
It’s not like I’m asking for a condo on the beach
Just a place to raise my family, maybe grow a crop or two
I don’t care if I ever get rich; it’s just something I want to do

A small farm in Minnesota and a tractor to till the land
I’m not afraid of hard work; I’d do it all by hand
A couple of Semi trucks parked out by the barn
With a couple happy drivers proud to work for Tatro Trucking and Farms

A place where I can have a shop and spend a lot of time working with my son
And my wife comes out and says, ‘hey boys, suppers almost done’.
Where I can run through the fields, playing with my girls.
This I would like to have, more than anything in the world

I don’t understand, why it has to be so tough
It’s been right there at my finger tips
My arms just weren't long enough..

Dear Virgil,
I wish that I were rich. I would give you your dream. A house, some land, some equipment to work it with your own hands. I would give it to myself, too.

I would put you in Florida, where the weather is nice, three seasons for farming and you could fish, take your children to the beach, look for old sharks teeth, mastadon teeth, set traps for crabs.
You sound so very nice.
I wish you every thing you wish for your family.

Love,
Betty

A friend of mine lived in Key West. He dreamed of a place in New Mexico where he could have land that was his and grow a garden. He met a lady who wanted the same thing. They found a run down place in the middle of nowhere and found his dream.

My family left Minnesota when i was a little Kid. We would work our way in and out of Minnesota many times over the next fifteen years, and Minnesota was the only place I really enjoyed Being and had no worries.. So I guess thats why I have always been so passionate about it.. but I would be happy almost anywhere where its green, and I could have the opportunity I spoke of in my poem...

Following (or chasing) your dream is a worthwhile pursuit. You can never get it if you don't pursue it. Living as though you have already achieved your dream helps make it happen. Believe in yourself and that you will succeed.
