Anyone been there?

I was reading through Helen Wisocki's wonderful journey in Forever Travels and her vivid descriptions of the Painted Desert brought back memories of my three trips to the States.

Lake Tahoe is still the best Lake I'd visited...

Many years ago I went to Lake Tahoe in July. I had my six year old son with me and he and I were in bathing suits. I didn't see anyone in the water, but it was beautiful! I took his hand and we ran in together. It was like iron bands snapped on my ankles. We may have run in the water; I believe we flew out.

I have been to Lake Tahoe and it is so lovely that I believe John Denver is the only singer who could give it it's due.

Diane, I love the idea that you and your son 'flew out'. My mind can get all around that vision.

Love,
Betty

I went with a couple of friends... way back in '96. We took a ride on the MS Dixie II, Mississippi-style steam cruiser. AliceDK and Betty, we should post our photos here of shared Lake Tahoe memories!
Meanwhile here's a snippet of the steam ship:

Alice, the anthology is a delightful read. I started reading over the Christmas holidays and it is very absorbing!

I live in Reno. Tahoe is just a drive up the hill.

We often take the grandkids (and visiting family) there.

It is gorgeous lake and forest.

Which song is that?

I know he wrote about the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and of West Virginia (and I do question his information in that song ... but never mind that). But what song is about Tahoe?

I love the picture of the steamer! I want to go! I want to go!

Ahad, it would be great if you posted a review of Forever Travels at Amazon.com. It gives you further exposure also. Just a thought...
