| Book trailers have been a mystery to me, never certain whether they actually entice potential readers. My first one for my debut novel was pulled (I think the producer had some slides and music that were not royalty free), but it was tediously long anyway. My favorite part, though, was the Korean drums at the beginning - I'll miss those drums.
If you have 1 minute and 59 seconds, please visit www.dkchristi.com opening page for a treat. The Ghost Orchid trailer was produced by Darryl Saffer, a friend to the environment and an award-winning, documentary film producer. If you need a trailer, see what you think of Ghost Orchid. He uses his own, original music (no problems this time). Of course, the beautiful cover made it easy... I sure want to buy that book . . .oh, I wrote it. Thanks for taking a look.
I don't have a stand-alone blog, but there is a blog at the web site also, hungry for comments - if you have another couple minutes :-) :-) It's raining here...dk

| It's a beautiful video, DK, and the music is haunting, but the streaming is slow and it took five minutes to view the whole video. |

| Hi - I passed on your comment to the producer. He said if there's a lot of traffic on the clip at the same time it may slow it down. |

It isn't a problem of traffic. It took me that long, too. Most people will have shut it off before they ever read the credits and know what the trailer is about. That defeats its purpose. The problem is that the video was uploaded to youtube at a much higher resolution than is needed for that medium. It takes that long to stream because the file is enormous. Also, consider adding something to the trailer about what the book is about. Some narrative to interest the reader. |

| I believe I loaded it in High Definition and now I have corrected that. Please let me know; I'm running 2 minutes. Thanks. |

| It works fine, now. I really like the music. It sets the theme very well and holds my attention. I dig the gator, too. |

| Yes, nice music and beautiful imagery. It's a good trailer. I would pick up the book based on it.
That ghost orchid is one ugly-ass flower, though. |

| Actually, the ghost orchid flower is one of the largest and loveliest in the United States, with the slipper orchids of the northern states perhaps rivaling it a bit...that particular image does not do the flowers justice. Take a look at the photos on the following site:
Ghost Orchid Info and Photography Page
and let me know if you still think it's an 'ugly-ass flower'.
Nice trailer, DK...I hope one day to read your book...I actually checked in the local bookstores and they didn't have it in stock.

| Ghost Orchid is available for book store purchase from B & N, Waterside Shops, Naples, FL; B & N Coconut Mall, Estero, FL; Corkscrew Swamp Gift Shop, Naples, FL and all book stores by order. It is available at all online print and ebook sellers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, and about 100 more spinoffs in addition to Fictionwise and specific ebook sellers.
The trailer may be found at www.dkchristi.com and at Youtube.com ( Ghost Orchid by D. K. Christi). Even at the web site, you may click on the right, lower corner of the trailer and it will run directly from Youtube instead of the embedded version.
I highly recommend Prem's web site for information about orchids. He goes above and beyond to provide the best info and pictures available.
The Ghost Orchid picture on the cover of Ghost Orchid comes straight from Wikipedia and its provision that allows duplication of that photo. I truly find the ghost orchid in real life beyond description in its ethereal beauty, especially floating in the swamp breeze (though I tried to describe it in Ghost Orchid.)
By the way, the alligator in the trailer is mentioned in the beginning of Ghost Orchid.... |

| I bought the Kiindle edition. I'm reading it on the road as I find time. Nice, so far. Excellent verbal imagery of the 'glades. |

| NPR reviews felt the imagery was the main value in the book :-) I prefer the story line myself, as do other reviewers; however, it is also my hope that bringing to light the importance of the Everglades to the human spirit might encourage others to think about the protection of natural habitat before it's all gone.
The environmentalists speak to each other - Ghost Orchid may reach a different audience who might not have previously understood the beauty of the Everglades and with a new appreciation support habitat preservation. |
