| BBQ RULES : We have entered the BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity. When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:
Routine... (i) The woman buys the food. (ii) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert. (iii) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand. (iv) The woman remains outside the compulsory three meter exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman.
Here comes the important part: (v) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
More routine... (vi) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery. (vii) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he flips the meat.
Important again: (viii) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
More routine... (ix) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
(x) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
And most important of all: (xi) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
(xii) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed ' her night off 'and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women! |

| Good one Luigie. I always try to help. I'm good at opening cans and pulling corks. |

| Hi Abe What about the huge task of putting the meat on the Barbie? You cannot underestimate the important role of the male at BBQ time. |

(i) WRONG- The husband goes with wife to buy the meat (ribs, chicken, brisket, sausage, etc) to be put on the smoker. (Note: a true Texan uses a SMOKER and mesquite wood. NO charcoal). The (non-Texas born) wife can NOT be trusted to choose the correct meat for this important event. (iii) - WRONG - The same (non-Texas born) wife can not be trusted to properly season/marinate the meat. The husband uses especially purchased spices/rubs/marinates bought from from carefully selected stores and prepares the meat. The rest is pretty classic and I agree with. |

OMG! Don't do that near my husbands BBQ meat. It will offend him. Properly seasoned and marinated BBQ does NOT require BBQ sauce, especially not from a bottle!!!! |
