Shallow I am, but there's nothing cheap about trying to turn back the page!

repost from elsewhere, the "if you could be younger" thread

the goblin could become whatever age the elixir was meant to make him , but inside he would just be the age he is now, saying "...once one knows for sure the consequences of ones actions, youthful innocence and that "devil may care" attitude doesn't return however young one might look on the outside..."

Fleamailman,

I apologize for not having given your work more of my time. I haven't been breathing well the last few weeks, and there hasn't been enough oxygen getting to my brain to do a fair reading. words on paper - if you can call this paper..."For that (the rapt one warns) is what papyr is meed of, made of, hides and hints and misses in prints." (Joyce - Finnegan's Wake - Shelagh, you're spoiling my fun)

"So you need hardly spell me how every word will be bound over to carry
three score and ten toptypsical readings throughout the book of
Doublends....." (Ibid)

Such readings are not for the faint of heart.

("In my end is my beginning"
) T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets

As I work to comprehend the jumbledness of lessthanmore meanings you bring forth to this....

" timecoloured place where we live in our paroqial fermament
one tide on another." Joyce and Finnegan again

So, are you planning to stick around for a while?

Dear Shelagh,
Right you are. I thought everyone knew the poem.

Some readings of words are so second nature to me from old times that I forget that some may never have read them. The stuff of childhood in the nights by flashlight or candlelight. Words that envelop me to this day. I was reading this 'goblins' words and they flow so and entwine my old mind of youth and my olden mind of old age. Funny that she/he connects to me this way. That is why I said I hoped he/she was not evil. I have no compass points for evil intent on the internet.

I have known people who are so negative in their lives that they believe that they are the end all of creation.

The mind is a closed system, complete unto it's self. It believes in the immortality of it's own spirit.
I do, too.
Love,
Betty

("...we feed, though it isn't forced upon one..." replied the goblin, continuing "...only that "posts are born of posts" in my view, so no, I imagine I wouldn't remain here if ever this turned into some blog now, simply "live writing" needs a stage, where it's addiction for me is it's liveness...")

the goblin's madness continued with the goblin explaining "...in the old age home next to where I live, I always see two types, those "fighting on" types, and the other "letting go" types, but their lesson here goes largely unnoticed by society in general, where they're just ignored, hushed up, or tucked away like this, but all the same, it is something so simple, simply, that if one is lucky to live to retirement in relatively good health, one had better take into account the meaning of remaining "mentally active" in ones old age, before one arrives at it...", in fact, the goblin felt by now that he had seen, just too many unprepared old people, mentally rot and flounder in an enviable situation of "retirement, rest and freedom", simply because they hadn't the slightest idea what to do with themselves there, making the goblin sum things up by saying "...so no, it's not "rot in hell", actually it's "rot in heaven"..."

repost from elsewhere, a moment in the past

the email reads that the goblin's mother (86 years old) might not be able to swallow, the goblin understood that the family would bulk at having her force fed with tubes, so the goblin replied to his father typing "...I know we hope that we haven't yet reached that point but, as always, simply I go along in supporting any decision you take or plans you make, also I think going naturally "without distress" is what my mother would have wanted if one was talking to her before this illness took her reason away from her, so I imagine there isn't anyone who wouldn't wish to go out in dignity so your decision for her would be once more the correct one for her here I feel..." and with that the goblin had to choose another postcard to write to his mother again as she would like to see pictures of the mountains, while dad, when he received it, would then read it to her if she was awake but what was written on the postcard didn't matter, only that she would feel that something nice had happened, the postcard seemed another slot asking for feeding "...so slot shall we tell her of the flowers in bloom, the blue sky and the breeze that floats the clouds across the Alps then..." "...goblin, let me swallow for her then..." said the slot now in a whisper

Round, like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that's turning
Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on its face
And the world is like an apple
Spinning silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
One inner circle:

("...ah now, same rule as before, just never admit anything, that's all..." went the goblin, though the banned camp, aka "rejects club", had quite a few of "the band" there, and was one of the few places where the admin was down to earth, saying "...if you can get JATS here shelagh, it'll be saying something of your womanly persuasion, but remember he's forthright in his posts, his nemisis is "twee", where mine is "Iwin/youwin"...", and with that the goblin's posted today's then)

repost from elsewhere, the "ken's kornner" thread

"...are we not well fed here then..." said the goblin, suspecting that the big difference between the UK and the USA, in the elections, was that the former risked "same'ism" whichever, whereas the latter risked "extremism", that of socialism under president obama, or fascism under lady president palin perhaps, saying "at least for the brits, like in that aesop fable, are only voting between "king logs" here, whereas america will be voting between "king storks" now..."

("...I am so happy now, got a bit of a publish author yesterday, and today this..." mentioned the goblin, who he had just been given without prompting a picture by admin of herself at the lupusmctd site, which had just reopened, where the goblin just said "...well if those aren't feathers in my cap, what is I wonder, a very brave admin too, so I quickly posted this back now to her...")

repost from elsewhere, the lupusbots "last post" thread

the goblin liked queenbot's photo very much, saying "...one would think it odd that anything could actually happen to a persona on the internet but if I start by saying that form those few "last post" threads before, came many many more, and yet, as much as I try, I cannot quite conquer the whole of forumland here it seems, though both the "live writing" scene, and my notoriety too, have advanced enough to have me wading through a jungle of notifications in my inbox, but that never stops me from coming if only to steal a kiss from queetbot now, saying "...who knows, you might transform me yet..."

from his dear all diary, 5th September 1996

Dear all,
Oddly, the two responsibilities of "bringing up" and "bringing in" remind me as a parent of the offerings of Cain and Abel, how much more the offering of "bringing in"(the money) burns with a brighter flame, so I am grateful that we live in an age where the clear cut roles of "father brings in" while "mother brings up" have blurred to the point where each parent does both, at least now I can understand the little thankless flame of "bringing up" is far warmer in its unappreciated way.

I skipped the punk and goth eras. I've never felt the need to hide behind a mask, paint my fingernails black or walk around looking like Morticia Addams.

What about tattoos? Along with tits hanging out, today's ever-present tatt is another source of my ire.

(the goblin loved goth too, and punk for that matter, saying "...well actually it doesn't really matter what the site is about as long as it has a "last post" on it, part of the fun I suppose, like having their very own mcdonalds...")

repost from a goth's "last post" thread

another glorious posting day and the goblin wishes everyone every success in their wish to escape their own reality a bit longer, "...you're as rich as everything you don't want..." the goblin ventured, adding "...but you're always poor and alone in dailylife, simply, this system couldn't survive if you were contented in it, it builds "want" in you and turns people into slaves by creating their own discontent here, buy into it and you are owned by it, and the moment ones present distraction ends, one craves the next one, but every distraction returns you to your dailylife doesn't it...",

repost from an australian "last post" thread

the goblin thanked xxxxx , saying "..that's the third invite since turning up here..." in fact, the goblin didn't really care what the site was about as long as it had a "last post" thread, something like goblin versus mummies, grannies, goths, sportsbuffs, religious nutters, Brits, dog lovers, etc., etc., adding "...well anybody in fact, and even, yes wait for it folks, Australians no less..."

Quote :
you are a human, flesh and blood and bone, like the rest of us

"...wrong mortals, the goblin is just a persona, that is, on the Internet there is no "flesh and blood and bones", or "gender", "day", 'time", "place" or "age" for that matter, it is all just "what you read" and "what you write", there is no more a human here than if you were to look at a book and saying "you are flesh and blood and bone my dear book", though the source of what you see is human, yes, but what you read here isn't any more human than books, films, music, paintings and the like are, simply they are, like this text you're reading now, "representations" here, miss that point and you will not see what you are seeing for what it is..." ventured the goblin again, building up to that line he had thought often enough, saying "...welcome to the masked ball of the Internet, any representation you choose is OK then because none are true, even the best writer in the world couldn't possibly write himself as he truly is then, because written words only represent, don't they mortals..."

... but isn't that just as true of reality as it is of virtual reality? Does one human being ever really know another? Our minds change with age and experience, so even those who know us really well can be surprised at times.
