| At last, our 10,000 strawberry plants are confirmed. I can stop worrying and start getting things ready to plant. These are Camarosa strawberries grown in California and shipped all over. The shipping is a lot of the cost, about 40 percent. They will arrive the first or second week of October. I think that I will write a book about hydroponic growing. Perhaps I could get all the people who sell anything related to hydroponics to sponsor it on their sites. The mind does boggle. Well, at least mine does now and again. Love, Betty |

| Dear Dick, I will send you some along with some black peppercorns. I put black pepper in my vodka. Nice. I am glad that you have gotten Maisey. I do love the name. Sometimes a name just fits. I wonder if they make a hampster wheel built for two. I hope so. You could get Maisey a friend and they could run off into the sunset in their hampster wheels. Of course, they would always be home for dinner. Thank you for being my friend. Love, Betty |

| Betty, when you do things, you do it in a big way. I have two strawberry patches and decided to eliminate one. They produce more than we can consume. Being a commercial enterprise, what you have undertaken should give you a big boost. Keep us informed about your progress. |

| I can't even imagine 10,000 strawberry plants.
With you, Betty, they will flourish.

With you, Betty, they will flourish. Me, neither. Betty, you once posted you don't hire help for your farm. Are you going to be planting all those strawberries yourself? How do you do it? Surely not all by hand ...? |

| 10,000 plants will make some crop, which leads me to think how big will be the pie. |

| Last year we grew only 2500 strawberry plants. Like Abe, I had a very hard time keeping up with the picking of them. They need it every other day or, in Florida heat and humidity, you end up with little bags of strawberry juice full of fruit flies. I did my best but still had to dump a lot. LC, I will have to have help with the planting of these berries because they are bare root plants and will not keep long. I will also have to have pickers to harvest this fruit. I sure hope I have buyers. Even at 10,000 plants we are too small an operation for the brokers to care about. Also, we have no history and they do not know our quality. Same as in getting books published. However, we have jumped in with four feet and consider that we must prove our self to all these people. The Strawberries will be 2/3rds of our production. the other 1/3 will be in everyday vegetables like beans, squash, beets, onions, lettuce and tomatoes. I will post a picture of our farm on the photo albums. I am amazed at the about of food that can be produced in a small area. Our farm is one acre flat out, but equal to five because it stacks. Thank you all for your kind words. They mean a lot to me. I come in tired, not writing a thing, and still you all treat me like one of you. I appreciate it. Joe, If I can, I will send you strawberry plants through UPS. I will let you know when they are here. Love, Betty |

| Betty,
You are on the cutting edge with your hydroponic farm. I know you and Dave will do well. How I would love to be in Florida so I could pick my own fruits and veggies.

Our farm is one acre flat out, but equal to five because it stacks. For us non-farm folk, what does this mean (it stacks)? Do you mean you have layers of plants? I can't quite tell from the avatar. Is this because it's hydroponic? |

| Hydroponic strawberries: I row (40 stations, 5 pots high) = 200 plants (x 50 rows = 10,000 strawberry plants). |

| Oh, I see. Great photo! It doesn't look hydroponic, though, so I guess you can stack dirt plants, too? |

| Well, I'm not ready to trade my dirt garden in yet, and even without stacking, I've got more tomatoes right now than I know what to do with, lol. |

I love your farm-- 2 strawberries to one vegetable is a great ratio too. |
