| Watching The View at the moment - I just learned that Elizabeth Hasselbeck has written a new diet book, The G-free Diet, which is currently #5 on Amazon. So there you are, you can become a best-selling writer if you appear on a reality TV show and are obnoxiously conservative. Why didn't we know this before? Ann |

| And the diet book idea certainly works.

| If she were obnoxiously liberal, I wouldn't like her celeb status as a way of getting a book contract either.

| Did she really write it herself? Have help? Use a Ghostwriter? I have found that most celebs use ghostwriters or just tell someone what they want to say. They get credit for actually writing it when in fact they should get credit for the idea or the content and not the book itself.
She is one of the 4 of the panel on the t.v. morning program The View with Barbara Walters. |

You know, I stand at the checkout lanes at the grocery stores ... and glance at those celebrity magazines ... and don't know MOST of the people on the covers. And if I read a bit to try to figure out who they are ... I have not heard of MOST of the TV shows or movies they star in. Does this mean when I become rich and famous people like me will be going around asking "JoElle? Who is that?" |

| Hasselbeck came to fame when she lost out at the end of one of the Survivors series. Walters was looking for someone to replace Lisa Ling as the young panel member, and she got the job.
I've been watching The View since it's debut show over 10 years ago. I taught at a night high school, and it was the best thing on TV during the morning. I ditched it for a while during Rosie O'Donnell's term, but with Whoopie in charge, it's getting back on track, at least when they manage to shut Hasselbeck up. They've been named the most influential show on daytime, I understand.
Elves might like it, too. Sometime when you're rained in, try the ABC affiliate for whereever you are, about mid-morning.

| I watched it once when Rosie was there. I got so disgusted that I just turned the set off. I do that most of the time anymore, it seems. And I have no idea who even half of the supposed 'stars' are! |

| I know what you mean about the stars. I don't go to movies that often, and don't recognize anyone younger than Brad Pitt. What I like best is the first part of the show, when they discuss current "hot topics." They take on anyone and anything.

| How about "Hot Babes From the Big Apple." I'll bet it would draw a huge audience. Sarah Palin got a $7 million advance for her book, a tale of how badly she was treated by those nasty men in the GOP. |
