Never Argue with a Woman who reads Empty
PostSubject: Never Argue with a Woman who reads   Never Argue with a Woman who reads EmptyThu Mar 05, 2009 9:42 am

One morning, the husband returns the boat to their lakeside cottage after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, puts her feet up, and begins to read her book. The peace and solitude are magnificent.

Along comes a Fish and Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, 'Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?'

'Reading a book,' she replies, (thinking, 'Isn't that obvious?')

'You're in a Restricted Fishing Area,' he informs her.

'I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading.'

'Yes, but I see you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up..'

'If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault,' says the woman.

'But I haven't even touched you,'says the Game Warden.

'That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment.'

'Have a nice day ma'am,' and he left.

MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads.

Cool thing to wonder about, Shelagh. I'l bet there is a connection to the tack room, where horses' harnesses, saddles, and such are kept. I haven't looked up "tack" in that context. I'll get back.

From Dictionary.com:

tack·le
(t k l)
n.
1.The equipment used in a particular activity, especially in fishing; gear.

tack
(tæk)
n.
8. The gear used in equipping a horse, including saddle, bridle, martingale, etc

The common denominator seems to be "equip" and "gear."

Don't see anything about "tackling" anybody.scratch

Loved it, Abe, until the moral. You'd better delete it before you have non-reading women after you with clubs and pitchforks, and the feminist movement for implying women don't think, and so on and so on...

But I forgive you, mainly because the story is so cute. Laughing

OK Brenda, I went halfway. I took out the thinking part.
Now one can argue with a woman who thinks about reading.

I think it's an overrun sentence. "Never argue with a woman" says it all. Waste of time and a lost cause from the start.
