Perks Of Being Over 50 Empty
PostSubject: Perks Of Being Over 50   Perks Of Being Over 50 EmptyWed Feb 25, 2009 2:55 am

Someone had to remind me,so I'm reminding you, too.
Don't laugh... It's all true! Perks of reaching 50,
or, being over 60 and heading towards 70!

1. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.
2. In a hostage situation, you are likely to be released first.
3. No one expects you to run -- anywhere.
4. People call at 9 PM and ask, 'Did I wake you?'

5. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
6. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.
7. Things you buy now won't wear out.
8. You can eat supper at 4 PM.
9. You can live without sex,but not your glasses.

10. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.
11. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.
12. You quit trying to hold your stomach in, no matter who walks into the room.
13. You sing along with elevator music.
14. Your eyes won't get much worse.
15. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.
16. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.
17. Your secrets are safe with your friends, because they can't remember them either.
18. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to a manageable size.
19. You can't remember who sent you this list.
20. And you notice these are all in big print, for your convenience.

ONE MORE THING:
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on
the same night!

Good Nutter.
I knew there had to be something good about getting old, but I forgot. Those senior moments are becoming to frequent.

Abe, you're just a kid. I'm still looking for all the good things about the Golden Years although I have noticed that pretty young girls now hold doors open for me instead of giving me a dirty look.

I've noticed that as well. Unfortunately, they're asking me to leave, not come in.

Yes, those pretty girls are eye-catching. It may be akin to a dog chasing a car. What would he do if he caught it?

Thanks folks and speaking about young ladies. I have noticed that the ladies seem to be looking younger and younger. I see an attractive female step out from behind the steering wheel of an automobile as I admire her beauty I silently scold myself for looking at someone so young. Slowly I have realized everyone is starting to look young.

Well phooey! I won't be but 44 next month!

Wait if I take

44 + being the grandma of two + being married 26 years + had over 20 different jobs + moved over 20 times + knows who William Powell and Claude Rains are ... does that = an honorary 50 ???

Sheesh, JoElle, one would think so. But you know what? Using that method, I would probably be about 150!!

Oh, well.
I suppose I was cheating anyway.

If one is only as old as one feels ... I'd only be about 10 years old anyway.

Those who remember William Powell and Claude Rains qualify to be anything they choose to be. They don't make 'em like those two any more. I'll bet you also remember Gable and Bogart, Tracy, Flynn and maybe even Robert Taylor, Dick Powell and some of those great gals like Colbert, Lamar, Lupino and Ann Sheridan.

I'm assuming you mean Spencer, Errol, Claudette, Hedi, and Ida. I figure everybody knows Clark and Humphrey, but where is Lauren Bacall, as in Bogart and...?

I have one to add to your wonderful list...

I no longer worry about being seen at the beach in my swimsuit. As long as I am not gross, no one notices. They are too busy looking at the twenty-somethings! It is very freeing, actually...Laughing

Hepburn - Katherine or Audrey?

It's probably that I'm getting old, but it seems to me they reallywere better actors. The films certainly had better plots.

I'm glad you added Hepburn, and assume you mean Katherine and not Audrey? How about Greer Garson and Deanna Durbin? And of course, who could forget the Barrymores? Or the wonderful singing of Jeanette MacDonald and Eddy Arnold?

Perks Of Being Over 50 Empty

Oh! I love Audrey Hepburn! She was sooo precious in "My Fair Lady" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's"!

Though it really isn't her fault I suppose at being cast in the role. And it was a lovely part to play ... I just HATED Katherine Hepburn as Jo March in "Little Women". I couldn't stand her portrayal of one of my favorite characters.

Greer Garson was wonderful! I loved her and Laurence Olivier in "Pride & Prejudice". They were so cute as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. They clicked so well in that movie. Although that adaptation of the novel was quite horrible. The costumes were all wrong, they took a ton of liberties with the story and both actors were too old for the roles. I think the BBC version is a gazillion times better.

Speaking of Sir Laurence Olivier, I very much enjoy watching him too. I love the movie "Rebecca"! He's also the only reason I watched Wuthering Heights. He is so easy to watch!

Ooooh I don't know!
I haven't worn a bathing suit in over 15 years. Shocked
I think I was still in my 20s the last time I wore one. scratch

You are much braver than me!

Of course it is one of the things I do admire about you! You are pretty fearless! Perks Of Being Over 50 973110
