| Just to show y'all that an old beer-drinking, rebel flag-waving good ol' boy can occassionally get in touch with his softer side... here's one I wrote sometime in the 60's, hoping to put it to music. I think it was Dick who asked in another thread, "How do you gag a maggot?"
Here's one way...
Evening Shadows
The darkness of evening shadows All the beauty of the day Earth is clothed in mourning clothes Can night be here to stay?
But wait a few short hours And dawn comes breaking through To kiss the wakening flowers And make diamonds of the dew |

| Thanks, y'all! There was more but I couldn't find that old yellowed spiral notebook that I wrote it in - sometime in 1960, I think. I even had music for it...
Ann, glad you saw the metaphor! |

| You are both very talented. Now I shall probably dream of dragons and unicorns tonight! Happy ones, I'll wager. |

| An enjoyable piece, though I wished the worm was a bit longer. --Joe |
