"Author Solutions and imprints iUniverse and AuthorHouse in 2008 released 12,000 titles, which had more than 2.5 million total sales."
Looks like they're trying to corner the subsidy publishing market. What's interesting is the 2.5 mil. books sold breaks out to 208 books per release. This is an interesting consoidation going on in a corner of publishing that doesn't get a lot of notice from the mainstream industry. Within one year iUniverse, Authorhouse and Xlibris went from competitors to brands under one corporate umbrella. Will this company try to move traditional or continue to profit from a tightening funnel in traditional publishing? |

| They'll keep the same business model. They make money, no need to change. |

| Now this is interesting. Question: If a POD publisher went bankrupt and this new company bought thier assets, or just took them over, how would that affect the authors who had contracts with the fallen publisher? |

| There was a fairly big POD romance and creepy chick stuff publisher went out a while back (big by those standards, you understand) Everybody was pretty much screwed. BUT if they publisher actually and for real goes out and doesn't sell the rights off, then they revert.
If somebody sells your contract to somebody else, you're in with them, is my understanding. They have to honor the terms of your contract, though. |

| Creepy chick stuff is HUGE, man. We should both start writing shape-shifter vampire ghoul romances right away and see who scores first. |
