We now have a new President, President Trump. I read his speech , he wants the country to
come together, to heal and as he has said I'm the President for Every American and I agree with him.
As for why Hillary Clinton lost, first I believe many people found her to be arrogant, entitled, her party
having so much scandal, the people of this great country have had enough with political parties and
Donald Trump doesn't owe  anyone anything in-like other politicians ..

                                                                  Cheers........Joe.... Very Happy

Joe, I hope the candidate of your choice fulfills your needs.
The international media reports shock around the world.  It is not a good time to be abroad and identified as an American.  Trump made many promises.  We will see how he fares when he tries to run the country like he did his own corporations.
I'm concerned as are many Seniors with his plans.

I am also concerned.  I cried.  I cried again when I heard Hillary Clinton's concession speech.  The man has zero qualification.  I would have made a better president - as would anyone on this forum.  We don't have foot in mouth disease or need someone to feed us every sane sentence we speak.  We don't lie that I know of nor disparage people and nations to attain our own ends.

My friend who lives in Austria shared the international concerns you mention and she says everyone is shocked that the U.S. citizens are so little informed about reality that they would elect such a person as Donald Trump who has only enemies or those who hang with him because they are paid - including his wife and his adult children.  He has done nothing positive for anyone that did not benefit him personally.

Now that he is the President, however, I will not disparage him and pray instead that he gains wisdom to govern and does not destroy my beloved nation or the free world.  I will stop the few luxuries I have like an occasional meal out and put that money aside in case they privatize Social Security and Medicare.

As a colleague said, the Titanic changed as it rammed the iceberg - and it sank.  Change is not the answer unless it is positive change.

I am with DK here.  I see the utter undoing  of many, many years of hard fought rights for all peoples...women, minorities and people who just want to live their own idea of happiness.  When I heard the news that the nation was screwed one more time by the electoral college, I was pissed.  How do we ever rid ourselves of this selfserving entity!
I see people who have not one idea about how it can be if they have the "wrong blood".  These days there is dna testing to prove you have the wrong kind of blood and should be deported or detained and all your belongings and children up to the government for deposition.  I remember the internment camps in Florence Arizona where the Japanese Americans were stripped of their belongings, homes and wealth and put there with no proof at all of wrong doing.  Those jails still stand there, if anyone is willing to go look...just like the death chamber of Nazi Germany are there as a reminder of past folly.  We must not have learned much.
I do not accept Trump.  I await his trial for the rape of the 13 year old child and his other indictments.  I hope he is impeached and along with him his scab, Pence.
Love, Betty

Btw, the accuser may have been paid off, but she's filed three times and dropped the case each time, which suggests no payment was made.

It is natural to think of how the Administration will affect our lives.  It is not just the loss of SS or healthcare, but the environment that is of great concern.  Without clean air and water, we are living on a time-bomb.  Most of us won't be around to experience this tragedy, however our children and grandchildren will ultimately suffer.  I have finally accepted the fact that "money is the root of all evil".  with greed as the primary cause.

Once again the person who won the popular vote was not elected.  This needs to change.

Re water: during his visit to the Rust Belt states, Donald Trump said: “It used to be cars were made in Flint and you couldn't drink the water in Mexico. Now cars are made in Mexico, and you can't drink the water in Flint, but we're going to turn this around.”

With every adversity there is a benefit.  There is a positive side in the campaign of Trump.  Among numerous things, he revealed that bigotry still exists.  Further, he confirmed that telling lies often enough will get people to believe them.
The resilience of the American people will work to overcome adversity and correct the wrongs that exist.

The way that democrats feel now is precisely the way I felt when President Obama was elected. I felt even worse after his re-election. He is an exceptionally bright man with excellent skills as an orator but was a lightweight in terms of actual experience and far left of center in his political views. But I never doubted his integrity or his beliefs with which I simply disagreed. I know that he and I wish for the same ends and disagree only on the means for achieving those ends. His point of view and perhaps his life experiences led him to many erroneous conclusions, chief among them the knee jerk reaction to prejudge police not just leading to the famous beer summit, but many, many times throughout his presidency. I agreed with little as to his policies, but I respected his point of view and know he was acting primarily out of an honest conviction. I never felt that way about Secretary Clinton and I never will. My views cannot be dismissed as arbitrary, capricious, sexist. Yes some who hate Mrs. Clinton do so out of misogyny. Yes some who hate President Obama do so out of racism. But those who paint with a broad brush and put all detractors into a basket of deplorables are themselves deplorable basket cases.  I have very serious reservations and concerns about Trump. But we all need to take a deep breath and step back--and we need to remember that the exact same accusations were leveled against Reagan throughout his two terms and beyond. I remember first hand accounts of people cheering when he was shot. Would some have cheered had Obama been shot? Yes. Both sides are equally bigoted, warped and unredeemable in my view. No rational person can make excuses for either small but true basket of deplorables.

As President Obama once famously said, elections have consequences. America reached a tipping point because of the bad decisions and questionable actions of people on the left--magic executive order pens included--and overreaching by Democrats in power (read: Pelosi, Reid and Obama) who pushed the envelope beyond its breaking point. Policies pushed and believed by people who primarily live in a handful of states with huge populations and massive cities did not play well in Peoria. The map of blue and red counties across the country make that extraordinarily clear. Manhattanites and San Franciscans who live in their self-contained cities do not know or understand the very different priorities, problems or points of view of the rest of the country, or share their values and principles.

Americans are a very forgiving basket of adorables in general; we are the largest truly diverse country on planet earth. Every ethnic, religious, racial group is represented and for the most part lives in harmony and tolerance. Gays and straights, the brilliant and the dull, the able bodied and the physically challenged live in enviable harmony while retaining the cultural, ethnic and historical identities that make them unique, invaluable additions to an ever-changing melting pot. Ultra progressives and ultra conservatives are both equally guilty of binary thinking: black-white, yes-no, zeroes and ones are all they see. We live in a gloriously colored three dimensional world they never see because of their philosophical blinders that allow them to see only pure black and pure white--not even gradients in the grey scale. And they are unwilling to hear--let alone entertain or seriously consider--any point of view that deviates from their sad, poor binary existence.  The response to a competing idea is anger and the first and last impulse is to quash it. If they can't have their way, they choose violence. You see it in the neo Nazis and skinheads and in the anarchists and criminals who immediately go to riot mode every time their world view is challenged without the slightest interest in the facts. When a black criminal is shot trying to kill a police officer (white, yellow, red, brown or black--it matters  not as cops are the enemy of anarchists and thugs the world over), the immediate impulse is to riot and chant catchy slogans like "what do we want: dead cops; when do we want it?  Now" or "pigs in a blanket fry them like bacon". Lose an election? Go out and trash your city, destroy private property and loot and burn local businesses while politicians on the left try to excuse the inexcusable. Same people. Same result. Same essential problem. Notice that no riots or massive "civil protests" took place when President Obama was elected. Voting for him simply because he is black and voting for Hillary Clinton simply because she is a woman is just as racist and sexist an act as voting against them for the exact same reason. Liberals need to get the memo.

I empathize with my liberal colleagues who were disappointed and heartbroken when Trump won. I can even understand the anger of "how could we possibly end up with this guy" which is precisely how I felt about Obama--twice. We will never agree on that point and it is a fool's errand to continue a conversation as to which of us is right and why. But we had the election. Trump is our next president. No civil protest will change that, and no criminal acts committed under the guise of civil protest can be excused or condoned.

You can hate Trump. You can oppose him on personal and on political grounds (as I do Secretary Clinton--no hate, just intensely dislike and distrust). You can and should hold him to account when he becomes our 45th President and criticize, condemn and work to undermine his agenda. We need a loyal opposition. For those who truly cannot accept the election, we are fortunate that, unlike countries currently ruled by ultra-progressives, we build no physical walls or governmental barriers to keep our citizens from seeking greener pastures. Anyone who does not like and cannot abide the results of democracy in action is welcome to head for the nearest clearly marked exit sign.

       President Trump Empty
PostSubject: Re: President Trump          President Trump EmptyFri Nov 11, 2016 10:27 am

Friends:  - (This was written by Michael Moore - filmmaker long before the election debacle)
I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I gave it to you straight last summer when I told you that Donald Trump would be the Republican nominee for president. And now I have even more awful, depressing news for you: Donald J. Trump is going to win in November. This wretched, ignorant, dangerous part-time clown and full time sociopath is going to be our next president. President Trump. Go ahead and say the words, ‘cause you’ll be saying them for the next four years: “PRESIDENT TRUMP.”
Never in my life have I wanted to be proven wrong more than I do right now.
I can see what you’re doing right now. You’re shaking your head wildly – “No, Mike, this won’t happen!” Unfortunately, you are living in a bubble that comes with an adjoining echo chamber where you and your friends are convinced the American people are not going to elect an idiot for president. You alternate between being appalled at him and laughing at him because of his latest crazy comment or his embarrassingly narcissistic stance on everything because everything is about him. And then you listen to Hillary and you behold our very first female president, someone the world respects, someone who is whip-smart and cares about kids, who will continue the Obama legacy because that is what the American people clearly want! Yes! Four more years of this!
You need to exit that bubble right now. You need to stop living in denial and face the truth which you know deep down is very, very real. Trying to soothe yourself with the facts – “77% of the electorate are women, people of color, young adults under 35 and Trump cant win a majority of any of them!” – or logic – “people aren’t going to vote for a buffoon or against their own best interests!” – is your brain’s way of trying to protect you from trauma. Like when you hear a loud noise on the street and you think, “oh, a tire just blew out,” or, “wow, who’s playing with firecrackers?” because you don’t want to think you just heard someone being shot with a gun. It’s the same reason why all the initial news and eyewitness reports on 9/11 said “a small plane accidentally flew into the World Trade Center.” We want to – we need to – hope for the best because, frankly, life is already a shit show and it’s hard enough struggling to get by from paycheck to paycheck. We can’t handle much more bad news. So our mental state goes to default when something scary is actually, truly happening. The first people plowed down by the truck in Nice spent their final moments on earth waving at the driver whom they thought had simply lost control of his truck, trying to tell him that he jumped the curb: “Watch out!,” they shouted. “There are people on the sidewalk!”
Well, folks, this isn’t an accident. It is happening. And if you believe Hillary Clinton is going to beat Trump with facts and smarts and logic, then you obviously missed the past year of 56 primaries and caucuses where 16 Republican candidates tried that and every kitchen sink they could throw at Trump and nothing could stop his juggernaut. As of today, as things stand now, I believe this is going to happen – and in order to deal with it, I need you first to acknowledge it, and then maybe, just maybe, we can find a way out of the mess we’re in.
Don’t get me wrong. I have great hope for the country I live in. Things are better. The left has won the cultural wars. Gays and lesbians can get married. A majority of Americans now take the liberal position on just about every polling question posed to them: Equal pay for women – check. Abortion should be legal – check. Stronger environmental laws – check. More gun control – check. Legalize marijuana – check. A huge shift has taken place – just ask the socialist who won 22 states this year. And there is no doubt in my mind that if people could vote from their couch at home on their X-box or PlayStation, Hillary would win in a landslide.
But that is not how it works in America. People have to leave the house and get in line to vote. And if they live in poor, Black or Hispanic neighborhoods, they not only have a longer line to wait in, everything is being done to literally stop them from casting a ballot. So in most elections it’s hard to get even 50% to turn out to vote. And therein lies the problem for November – who is going to have the most motivated, most inspired voters show up to vote? You know the answer to this question. Who’s the candidate with the most rabid supporters? Whose crazed fans are going to be up at 5 AM on Election Day, kicking ass all day long, all the way until the last polling place has closed, making sure every Tom, Dick and Harry (and Bob and Joe and Billy Bob and Billy Joe and Billy Bob Joe) has cast his ballot?  That’s right. That’s the high level of danger we’re in. And don’t fool yourself — no amount of compelling Hillary TV ads, or outfacting him in the debates or Libertarians siphoning votes away from Trump is going to stop his mojo.
Here are the 5 reasons Trump is going to win:

  1. Midwest Math, or Welcome to Our Rust Belt Brexit.  I believe Trump is going to focus much of his attention on the four blue states in the rustbelt of the upper Great Lakes – Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Four traditionally Democratic states – but each of them have elected a Republican governor since 2010 (only Pennsylvania has now finally elected a Democrat). In the Michigan primary in March, more Michiganders came out to vote for the Republicans (1.32 million) that the Democrats (1.19 million). Trump is ahead of Hillary in the latest polls in Pennsylvania and tied with her in Ohio. Tied? How can the race be this close after everything Trump has said and done? Well maybe it’s because he’s said (correctly) that the Clintons’ support of NAFTA helped to destroy the industrial states of the Upper Midwest. Trump is going to hammer Clinton on this and her support of TPP and other trade policies that have royally screwed the people of these four states. When Trump stood in the shadow of a Ford Motor factory during the Michigan primary, he threatened the corporation that if they did indeed go ahead with their planned closure of that factory and move it to Mexico, he would slap a 35% tariff on any Mexican-built cars shipped back to the United States. It was sweet, sweet music to the ears of the working class of Michigan, and when he tossed in his threat to Apple that he would force them to stop making their iPhones in China and build them here in America, well, hearts swooned and Trump walked away with a big victory that should have gone to the governor next-door, John Kasich.
From Green Bay to Pittsburgh, this, my friends, is the middle of England – broken, depressed, struggling, the smokestacks strewn across the countryside with the carcass of what we use to call the Middle Class. Angry, embittered working (and nonworking) people who were lied to by the trickle-down of Reagan and abandoned by Democrats who still try to talk a good line but are really just looking forward to rub one out with a lobbyist from Goldman Sachs who’ll write them nice big check before leaving the room. What happened in the UK with Brexit is going to happen here. Elmer Gantry shows up looking like Boris Johnson and just says whatever shit he can make up to convince the masses that this is their chance! To stick to ALL of them, all who wrecked their American Dream! And now The Outsider, Donald Trump, has arrived to clean house! You don’t have to agree with him! You don’t even have to like him! He is your personal Molotov cocktail to throw right into the center of the bastards who did this to you! SEND A MESSAGE! TRUMP IS YOUR MESSENGER!
And this is where the math comes in. In 2012, Mitt Romney lost by 64 electoral votes. Add up the electoral votes cast by Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. It’s 64. All Trump needs to do to win is to carry, as he’s expected to do, the swath of traditional red states from Idaho to Georgia (states that’ll never vote for Hillary Clinton), and then he just needs these four rust belt states. He doesn’t need Florida. He doesn’t need Colorado or Virginia. Just Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. And that will put him over the top. This is how it will happen in November.
  2. The Last Stand of the Angry White Man. Our male-dominated, 240-year run of the USA is coming to an end. A woman is about to take over! How did this happen?! On our watch! There were warning signs, but we ignored them. Nixon, the gender traitor, imposing Title IX on us, the rule that said girls in school should get an equal chance at playing sports. Then they let them fly commercial jets. Before we knew it, Beyoncé stormed on the field at this year’s Super Bowl (our game!) with an army of Black Women, fists raised, declaring that our domination was hereby terminated! Oh, the humanity!
That’s a small peek into the mind of the Endangered White Male. There is a sense that the power has slipped out of their hands, that their way of doing things is no longer how things are done. This monster, the “Feminazi,”the thing that as Trump says, “bleeds through her eyes or wherever she bleeds,” has conquered us — and now, after having had to endure eight years of a black man telling us what to do, we’re supposed to just sit back and take eight years of a woman bossing us around? After that it’ll be eight years of the gays in the White House! Then the transgenders! You can see where this is going. By then animals will have been granted human rights and a fuckin’ hamster is going to be running the country. This has to stop!
  3. The Hillary Problem. Can we speak honestly, just among ourselves? And before we do, let me state, I actually like Hillary – a lot – and I think she has been given a bad rap she doesn’t deserve. But her vote for the Iraq War made me promise her that I would never vote for her again. To date, I haven’t broken that promise. For the sake of preventing a proto-fascist from becoming our commander-in-chief, I’m breaking that promise. I sadly believe Clinton will find a way to get us in some kind of military action. She’s a hawk, to the right of Obama. But Trump’s psycho finger will be on The Button, and that is that. Done and done.
Let’s face it: Our biggest problem here isn’t Trump – it’s Hillary. She is hugely unpopular — nearly 70% of all voters think she is untrustworthy and dishonest. She represents the old way of politics, not really believing in anything other than what can get you elected. That’s why she fights against gays getting married one moment, and the next she’s officiating a gay marriage. Young women are among her biggest detractors, which has to hurt considering it’s the sacrifices and the battles that Hillary and other women of her generation endured so that this younger generation would never have to be told by the Barbara Bushes of the world that they should just shut up and go bake some cookies. But the kids don’t like her, and not a day goes by that a millennial doesn’t tell me they aren’t voting for her. No Democrat, and certainly no independent, is waking up on November 8th excited to run out and vote for Hillary the way they did the day Obama became president or when Bernie was on the primary ballot. The enthusiasm just isn’t there. And because this election is going to come down to just one thing — who drags the most people out of the house and gets them to the polls — Trump right now is in the catbird seat.
  4. The Depressed Sanders Vote. Stop fretting about Bernie’s supporters not voting for Clinton – we’re voting for Clinton! The polls already show that more Sanders voters will vote for Hillary this year than the number of Hillary primary voters in ’08 who then voted for Obama. This is not the problem. The fire alarm that should be going off is that while the average Bernie backer will drag him/herself to the polls that day to somewhat reluctantly vote for Hillary, it will be what’s called a “depressed vote” – meaning the voter doesn’t bring five people to vote with her. He doesn’t volunteer 10 hours in the month leading up to the election. She never talks in an excited voice when asked why she’s voting for Hillary. A depressed voter. Because, when you’re young, you have zero tolerance for phonies and BS. Returning to the Clinton/Bush era for them is like suddenly having to pay for music, or using MySpace or carrying around one of those big-ass portable phones. They’re not going to vote for Trump; some will vote third party, but many will just stay home. Hillary Clinton is going to have to do something to give them a reason to support her  — and picking a moderate, bland-o, middle of the road old white guy as her running mate is not the kind of edgy move that tells millenials that their vote is important to Hillary. Having two women on the ticket – that was an exciting idea. But then Hillary got scared and has decided to play it safe. This is just one example of how she is killing the youth vote.
  5. The Jesse Ventura Effect. Finally, do not discount the electorate’s ability to be mischievous or underestimate how any millions fancy themselves as closet anarchists once they draw the curtain and are all alone in the voting booth. It’s one of the few places left in society where there are no security cameras, no listening devices, no spouses, no kids, no boss, no cops, there’s not even a friggin’ time limit. You can take as long as you need in there and no one can make you do anything. You can push the button and vote a straight party line, or you can write in Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. There are no rules. And because of that, and the anger that so many have toward a broken political system, millions are going to vote for Trump not because they agree with him, not because they like his bigotry or ego, but just because they can. Just because it will upset the apple cart and make mommy and daddy mad. And in the same way like when you’re standing on the edge of Niagara Falls and your mind wonders for a moment what would that feel like to go over that thing, a lot of people are going to love being in the position of puppetmaster and plunking down for Trump just to see what that might look like. Remember back in the ‘90s when the people of Minnesota elected a professional wrestler as their governor? They didn’t do this because they’re stupid or thought that Jesse Ventura was some sort of statesman or political intellectual. They did so just because they could. Minnesota is one of the smartest states in the country. It is also filled with people who have a dark sense of humor — and voting for Ventura was their version of a good practical joke on a sick political system. This is going to happen again with Trump.

Coming back to the hotel after appearing on Bill Maher’s Republican Convention special this week on HBO, a man stopped me. “Mike,” he said, “we have to vote for Trump. We HAVE to shake things up.” That was it. That was enough for him. To “shake things up.” President Trump would indeed do just that, and a good chunk of the electorate would like to sit in the bleachers and watch that reality show.

Yours,
Michael Moore

I don't hate anyone.  I wish there had been two different candidates for president
I am 69 years old and these are the worst I have seen.

Hate is a strong word, Alice.  Not respecting a person's views is not the same.  We can argue that the uneducated are the ones who make bad decisions while ignoring the so-called educated who make bad decisions for different reasons.  Ignorance can be excused as simply “not knowing”.  When people knowingly make bad choices it is no longer ignorance, but stupidity and there is no antidote for stupidity.  I think that most of us can point to stupid things we did when we ignored the facts.  I still believe that the “gut” is the best guide.  Our inner-selves know right from wrong.  The choices we make should reflect what is right for us and not based on opinions of others.

I disagree with any hoopla about President Obama's Executive Orders.  He had total obstruction with zero compromise from the Congress. The Executive Orders are used by all presidents and most issued more than President Obama.  They wouldn't even have a hearing on his Conservative choice for the Supreme Court.

I've known many men like Trump.  If he remains true to his nature, he has no intention of working very hard but will pass everything that's not a big show off to those he appoints.  He will appoint those who can do him a good turn in return.  He will enrich himself and his children.  He will use the perks of the presidency and return nothing to the country or those people who voted for him.

He does not have a mandate with over 700,000 (and still counting) more votes for Hillary Clinton than for him.  He has a won election based on a passel of lies and Comey's letters.   It's like the three little pigs and the house built of straw.  He's still the Emperor and he's naked.  His followers still pretend to see clothes because they don't want to be wrong.

He has nothing positive to offer.  It's all take away and destroy.  No replacements.  Any dunce can destroy.  Just get a hammer.

He was not my choice.   Some  wanted him however.  Time will tell.  Kennedy's legacy was questionable
if full known.

Unfortunately, as I've written here and elsewhere many times before, it is not about the number of executive orders Obama signed but the content of these. Some clearly violated the letter and spirit of the law and were held to be Unconstitutional. We do not have emperors but presidents with Constitutionally limited powers. Executive orders are intended to implement laws passed by Congress and no president has the power to overturn federal laws passed by Congress as he did when, as just one example, trying to implement the Dreamer Act through an executive order.

We are a republic, not a monarchy. (And even Constitutional monarchies like Great Britain's and Spain's have severe limits on what monarchs can do these days.) We have separation of powers and limits on the power of each of the three branches defined by the Constitution in crystal clear fashion;  these are not negotiable and cannot be read out of the Constitution simply because they represent an inconvenience to a progressive or conservative agenda. Yes Congress opposed most of President Obama's agenda, as was its right, prerogative and duty when Congress believes the President's agenda is misguided. The only major legislation Obama got through was Obama Care--and ONLY with Democrat votes in the House and Senate and the various bailouts. To those who whined about the tactics of Obama/Reid/Pelosi (me among these) President Obama snidely responded "ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES." They most certainly do, but not just when Dems are in power, I'm afraid. I warned that Democrats would live to rue the day when they lost power again when they pushed legislation trough Congress caring not a fig about the opposition's (or American's generally) point of view at the time. Legislation was crafted by one party, marketed through shameless lies about cost, keeping one's doctor, etc., etc., etc. And pushed through in part by changing the rules of the Senate to prevent the opposition from blocking it with filibusters.  Republicans now hold the House, Senate and the White House and have the Reid/Pelosi/Obama rules to play with if they wish. One difference between most progressives and me is that I will not applaud if the Republicans behave as poorly as did the Democrats in manipulating the rules to push through their agenda without any respect for the opposition. On the other hand, I fully expect Democrats and Independents in Congress (Dems by any other name) to behave as the opposition party and try to block any initiative the new Congress and President propose as is their right, privilege and duty.

Trump so far has been conciliatory and has already backed off some of his more extreme campaign promises--with no reason to do so since it ticks off his most ardent voters and  Democrats are calling for his head and rioting in many places across the U.S. and will continue to do so no matter what he does. We are not a banana republic. People have the right to protest, but what precisely are they protesting other than the fact they don't like the person who won? I've made it abundantly clear a long, long time before the election season began that I am not a Trump supporter. I also made it clear I like Hillary Clinton even less. But had she won, i certainly would not protest, let alone burn her in effigy, loot, destroy private property or beat up people who voted for her.

Lost in all of this idiocy is the fact that Hillary's supporters are doing EXACTLY what they claimed Donald's supporters would do if he lost. Riots on the streets; at least one vicious beating of a Trump supporter (white, by two black men)  for voting for Trump; professors cancelling classes and office hours because they just can't cope; students excused from exams and offered counseling because their candidate lost . . . . Really? Will the real basket of irredeemable deplorables please stand up! Of all the wonderful things we've imported from Great Britain, I never expected hooliganism to move from soccer/football stadiums there to the streets of out cities.

I understand people feed bad about the election. Believe me, I sympathize since there is nothing anyone feels today I did not feel in many past elections when candidates I supported wholeheartedly like John McCain lost to lightweights I could not support. (At least I liked and respected Obama and was willing to give him a chance to govern until the shenanigans began) Liberals can either listen to public radio, MSNBC and Michael Moore 24/7/365 and prepare themselves for the zombie apocalypse or they can pick themselves up, dust themselves off and begin the process of engagement with the majority party that has no reason at all to listen to shrill voices or empty threats.

It is true that Trump does not have a mandate (newsflash: neither did Obama). What he does have is the House, the Senate, a magic pen inherited from Obama and the power to change the face of the federal judiciary for the next 30+ years--just as Obama has had. Yes, folks, elections have consequences. And no idiotic recall petition, flag burnings, rioting, destruction of private property, looting or beating up of Trump supporters both literally and metaphorically will change that. Such behavior will only further divide us and solidify the support for Trump even from those who are not be ardent supporters, like me.

I was watching BBC today where they had a panel of political experts discussing Trump.  Most see his Presidency as a disaster.  They find it difficult to believe that the Americans would elect such a person.

They are not alone with those thoughts.  Many Americans feel the same way.  As Alice said, "Time will tell".

The British press should hang their heads in shame for the blatant bias shown in favour of Hillary Clinton. My husband's reaction to allowing American students to skip lectures and giving them colouring books? He said that the professors should be charged for bringing ridicule upon the students and using them as political pawns. He thinks that the reaction of left-wing bullies should be dealt with by those in positions of power, President Obama in particular, to send out a clear message that says, left or right, taking matters into your own hands will not be tolerated.
