Communication.
It is my view that communication is becoming a problem.  Interaction with another person is less difficult when face-to-face.  Expressing oneself in written form is now more common than in the past.  Writers are more aware of the written word and the importance of communicating an idea or thought than most.  Social media is forcing people to express their thoughts in written form.  Grammatical errors are detected in common usage of frequently used words:  “There” and “their” are just two of the glaring mistakes.  Improper usage of words can confuse and even distort a meaning.  Interaction is taking a big hit when people insult another person they that they disagree with and respond by using such expressions as: “You’re stupid”.  “You are a moron.”  Some add to these comments by inserting profanity to further demean as with “fuckin stupid”.   Discussion with these people are a waste of time.  I enjoy discussing issues with people of a similar mindset or with those asking intelligent or pertinent questions.  I have unfriended a number of people on FB and blocked some that demean another person.  Making new friends or acquaintances is a positive aspect with social media.  The downside is creating enemies without intention.  The ability to clarify statements that may cause problems is difficult unless the person insulted gives feedback.  Face-to-face discussions are easier to resolve with an immediate response.

I agree, Abe. Communication is a  problem.  Folks prefer to stare at their phones or share one million
pictures when one would suffice.

Hoping this will go out of favor soon.

I heard of some folks  who ventured out for lunch. The first thing they  did was stack their cell phones in a high pile in  the midst of the table.  Then the leader of the group said,"the first person to touch their phone gets to pay our tab today."
I can  bet they had conversation. Communication 588578 Communication 588578 Communication 588578
