Ignorance and stupidity on the rise.
Recently in North Carolina it was proposed to build a solar energy park.  The savings in cost of energy and having clean energy prompted the proposal; however it required local government approval.  It was not approved because of concerns raised that it might somehow cause cancer and that it would take too much energy away from the sun.

We have higher institutions of learning and there are a good number of smart, intelligent people.  Why then has ignorance increased?  Is it due to lack of educational opportunity or due to the lack of qualified-intelligent teachers?  Whatever the reason, it appears that much of this is evidenced in the southern states where ignorance and stupidity cause them to vote against their own best interest.  They vote for candidates that propose to take away healthcare, eliminate subsidies and even promote reduction of Social Security as though it was government money.

Is ignorance supported by the churches?  The Bible Belt appears to be the most backward.  Christian fundamentalism and involvement in politics began under President Nixon when he was campaigning for President.  He promised to ease off on segregation racism.  His ideas were promoted in the churches.  Reagan followed-up on using the church to promote his candidacy for President and it worked.  GWB used a similar tactic using God (the church) to promote his agendas.  The Republican Party is once again using religion with much bias toward any non-Christian.  The President of Liberty University, Rev. Falwell Jr., is said to encourage the students to carry guns and to use them against Muslims.

On FB this morning:

(Facebook.com/ The Athiest Advocate)

We polled over 10,000 conservative Christians

“What would you do, if you discovered
that your child was a homo sapien”?

85% said they would disown them
and force them to leave their home.
