PostSubject: Let's destroy the real culprits - weapons manufacturers    Fri Dec 18, 2015 5:34 pm

I was speaking with a man from Egypt today - while he and his family live here, his extended family still lives in Egypt.

He had a simple way of ending the mass murders throughout the world.  We are smart enough to know that nuclear weapons must not be used.  Why are we not smart enough to understand the mass murders committed by all other weapons.

While the world does not end with each life lost by a weapon, the world does end for that person and often for the loved ones and families.  No life should ever be lost again from the use of a gun, a bomb, a weapon of war.  No reason for such murders exists.

So long as there are manufacturers of bombing planes, guns, and other horrid weapons who are making profits from war and conflict and neighborhood murder then all this will continue.

Tax manufacturers of weapons so highly that the manufacture of such destructive devices is not profitable.  Find a profitable use for their manufacturing facilities.  Turn them into peace time enterprises.

Let not the availability of such horrid means of mass murders allow hot heads and fanatics to kill and manufacturers to profit from that killing.

Enough communication, resources, intelligence, ingenuity, innovation and sheer love of humankind exists to overcome differences sufficient to live in reasonable harmony and peace if weapons were not so available.

This man from Egypt is a Muslim.  He wanted peace.  He had no desire to spread his religion.  He wants each person to have the right to practice their beliefs without fear and without interfering with the rights of his neighbor - a simple belief.

He ached from the hatred being spread in his adopted country he loves so much - the last refuge from the fanaticism in the rest of the world.  He sees the polarization as similar to what he saw in his own country - as people who got along well began separating from each other by seeking differences and old hatreds instead of new cooperation.

It's good to talk to people from other parts of the globe and escape our little world of bias and news clips and sound bites.  Every day I hear someone quote from Fox news some half truth about immigrants or people who are different that the "real Americans."

So, in addition to eliminating the manufacture of anything supporting weapons of war and murder, I propose we break up the monopolies that control media - I thought we had rules in that regard.

Let's return to an era when news was supposed to be reported facts uncolored by the reporter opinion.  Today, we get opinions with a few selected facts.

Thank you Diane.  I was beginning to think that I was alone in my feelings.  Good to know that others, even one, shares the same or similar feelings about war, guns and the cause.  When we seek peace we must also seek to eliminate the elements that threaten peace.  Power and greed top the list fueled by money.

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. Not all nations are willing to destroy their armaments. Those countries that kept their weapons would rule the world.

However, if there were no sources for them to buy more weapons, eventually, not in my lifetime but eventually, weapons would decay just like everything else.  Without profiteering from the manufacture of ammunition, they would become antiques. Of course it takes a change of mind but one mind change at a time can change the world just as it can destroy it.

You think that Iran and North Korea would stop making weapons? Seriously?

The Berlin Wall came down.  The Soviet Socialists Republic dismembered.  I believe in the power of the human spirit and that the primary direction of the universe is toward harmony even though humanity has been pretty slow to catch on.

Consumers will pay the difference. Look what happened when gasoline went through the roof. Cigarettes. Adding outrageous taxes will only serve to create a stronger black market than we already have. Assuming we could get a lobby-owned congress to levy them. And if we did, their jobs wouldn't last past the next election. That windmill's been tilted over.

So, we give up and give in?  We just let the world be one of wars and our country one of murders?  Or do we try, one soul at a time until we have a pool, to find a solution - any solution - to end the carnage?

There's already outrageous profits in the materials of war.  Find a way to stop the profit and that's a step in the right direction.

Weapons purchase programs have had mild success but are too limited. Let's buy the weapons - provide a stipend to communities that remain weapon and murder free - let them police themselves to collect the stipend - it has to be less costly than murder and incarceration.

If a man from Egypt and a woman from Michigan can agree that none of wants war - it's an economic issue that is cloaked in religion - well, surely more of us can find common ground.

Change is a large part of the problem and yet, to grow, to progress, means change.
Holding onto what feels comfortable in spite of the known downside is foolish.  Being willing to entertain new ideas for the common good is a prerequisite.
The history of arms sales and the money spent on the production of killing devices is available for scrutiny.  Repeating a cycle of destruction won’t make it right.
Check out this website about arms sales. http://www.cheatsheet.com/business/the-worlds-10-largest-arms-exporters.html/
The US and Russia are the world’s largest supplier of arms and China is getting into the act.
It represents big money.  They don’t just produce arms for their own use, but to sell.  Where does ISIS get their weapons?  Control of arms sales is much like the subject of gun control.  It is needed, but resisted and the reasons are varied.
The race to have the biggest and best means of killing continues.  Since it is known who the suppliers are, it is imperative that these super powers get together and establish control.  The proliferation of nuclear weapons was dealt with.  The sales of other weapons must also be dealt with or the weapons we sell will be used against us.  We know that a large amount of war materials left in Iraq were confiscated by ISIS.
There is much talk about domestic security.  Having more weapons has not been proven to make us more secure.  We need fresh ideas.  Change will be resisted; however for the common good, change is imperative for our survival.  We are finally dealing with climate change with the hope that it is not too late.  It is time to deal with the subject of weapons.  Weapon suppliers will be the largest opponents and they have the money to promote their opposition.  IMV, it will take strong leadership in government to make it happen.  Politicians who are on the take from these suppliers and who provide them with contracts cannot be relied upon to affect change.  There is one Candidate that has the guts to fight against the powerful.  Let’s hope that he gets into a more powerful position to affect the changes needed.

Ditto. What many do not yet believe; THERE ARE BAD PEOPLE ON THIS EARTH WHO WILL NEVER BE GOOD. It's a great plan for all people to destroy weapons...but, you would have to have a world without one bad person in it, and if we did, no good person will kill even if there are billions of weapons. it is a fairy tale dream that man can not do. Face the facts...any country big, or small can start a WW3 atomic war. Man has shown in the past he is willing to kill millions for some stupid reason. I have not received an email that reads, "All men have become good. All men have learned war is bad."
There will be an Atomic war, and millions upon millions will die. It will be a time like the world has never seen...God says he is the only one who can end it.

Maybe an atomic war would be God's way of putting the world out of its misery. Unfortunately, if we had to become cave dwellers again, in a few thousand years, we would be back to where we are now!

I'll tell you the truth Shelagh..."Man became a cave dweller in the pre-flood world. The giants were eating the people. Even Native Americans speak of this. The red headed giants were eating them, and they had to fight to destroy those giants.
There are many natural caves in France with paintings of beast. The paint used is like nothing we have today. Science says, "It is a paint far beyond what we can make." Here in the United States, in New England, there are thousands of man made caves. The were built with small openings. A normal sized man would have to crawl to get inside. These were build just like the Eskimos built to keep the bears out. Were there wars in the pre-flood world? Science has found 20 areas on earth where the ground is thick yellow glass, and radioactive. Science says, “The only thing that can turn the ground into yellow glass, is an asteroid exploding above the earth, or an atomic bomb. Asteroids do not make radiation.”
Too many things have been found that should not be there if man started as a fish, or whatever. Everything shows that civilized man was just there with cities, and everything else? The whole history of the human family as they teach it is not true. It takes thousands of years to make coal…yet they have found not only modern things within coal, they also have found human remains full clothed…shoes, pants, shirts, coats, and hats…does not sound like a cave man going, “Ug.” It has also been proven a world flood would also make the pressure to make coal. The missing link is missing because it never was. Evolution is a theory. A theory is just an idea somebody had, which has never been proven, but somehow they teach it as fact…how can there be fact without one shred of proof? Not one. Yet people want to believe it because if they don’t, they have to consider that maybe the Bible is correct?
Here is something you can bank...the scriptures have said what would happen has...and there are just a few more things to come true. But what do I know? I don't have a PHD. I'm not very smart, I need two full cups of coffee in the morning to wake up, and I could never hold a note. (sing.)
