PostSubject: Settlement of Immigrants   Thu Nov 19, 2015 1:26 am

I mentioned in a post some time ago that the Muslims intend to take over the world via reproduction.  Whereas in Europe and America birth control is used to prevent pregnancies so that women can pursue a career.  Unfortunately that is playing into the plans of the radicals.  In Germany the lack of reproduction prompted the government to provide incentives.  That didn’t work.  Importing labor increased.

Shaking our heads won’t solve anything.  I do have an opinion that is to require all immigrants to adhere to the laws of the country they enter and attend an Indoctrination class.

Indoctrination for all Immigrants should be a priority.  Classroom sessions that include history of their new country can help.  The manner of living in this new society is imperative.  That includes how to dispose of garbage.  Littering is prohibited, etc.
Graduation from Indoctrination school should include a test for understanding/comprehension.  If they don’t pass, they don’t graduate.  Once graduated, any violation will be grounds for them to be sent back to their country of origin.  If they are to join our society, they must live by the rules of our society.  It will be pointed out that many already in our society don’t adhere to the rules and that crime is on the rise. Once the Indoctrination classes are formed, members of our society that violate the rules may be required to attend these sessions.  That could be an alternative to placing them in jail.  The indoctrination would also include dress codes.  Police must be able to identify people and any covering that prevents that must be removed.  ID’s should be a requirement that they carry with them at all times.  The same should be a requirement for all citizens.

Another thought would be that a sponsor be assigned to each immigrant and/or family.
The idea is to keep them the sectarian immigrants from segregating themselves into clans/groups/colonies that breeds and supports their old manner of living.  Integration at an early stage can help prevent lawlessness.  Religion will be a sticking point.  Trying to convert them is not wise and a waste of time.  Promoting any religion should be avoided.  Exposing immigrants to other ideas is part of education.  Cherry picking passages from the Koran are no different than Cherry picking passages from the Christian Bible.  We already have experience that with the proliferation of sectarian dogmas.

I post this to elicit ideas.  If we can come up with a reasonable plan, perhaps we can then promote this plan for government action.  It will also create jobs for instructors in various disciplines.

No plan is perfect; however not having a plan is unacceptable.  There are those who will suggest placing immigrants in some compound or reservation.  We have a history of doing that and it is not an acceptable solution.

Interesting ideas, Abe. Recently, I visited Birmingham from the southwest side of the city. From the centre of Birmingham, I drove south through Sparkhill along Stratford Road. Stratford is the birthplace of the quintessentially English playwright, Shakespeare. Driving along the street that led to the place of his birth, I could be forgiven for thinking that I had entered another continent and was driving down the streets of Bombay. For miles, the street was lined on both sides with Asian owned stores. I had never before seen a single all-Asian female clothes store. Here, hundreds of stores appear next to one another on both sides of the road, where shop windows display multi-coloured saris that shimmer and sheen with their gold trimmings. It was quite an education! Despite Asians steadfastly adhering to their religions, sects, customs and old way of life, they do not present a threat to the UK.

When muslims reject the terrorists among them, they lose sight of the fact that these radicalised young men and women are born into ordinary families in quiet communities. Radicalisation often occurs via the Internet. Families are often left distraught and dismayed when they realise that a member of their family has turned into a cold-bloodied killer full of hate and evil thoughts. These radicalised terrorists are not born into terrorists familes, they are born into normal, law-abiding families. When muslims are blamed for producing these terrorists, it's because they do. They neglect to see the changes that occur during the period of radicalisation. This neglect makes them partly responsible. The muslim community has to accept responsibility for the actions of young men and women within their ranks. The problem is just as much theirs to resolve as it is for the rest of the non-muslim world.

If you have Google Earth, this postcode will take you along Stratford Road: B11 4RH

Good idea Abe...we have the same problem here in the States. Africans were brought here by force, and used as slaves. We had a civil war, and 150 years ago the black slaves were freed, and allowed to remain as citizens. We have used all the programs you suggest, and more...it just has not worked. They still don't follow the laws of the land, nor do they want to fit in?  It seems the problem can't be fixed unless both sides want it fixed. Europe may have the same problem.

Domenic, you are right.
Europe will now experience the problems that America faced.  Integration will occur, however forced integration will not work.
In life, we choose our friends just as we choose those we want to be friends with.  We choose to be friendly with people who share our ideals and who are friendly with us.  The problem is often about who will make the first move.  We are in control.  If we make the first friendly gesture the chances are that it will be returned.  If our act of friendship is rejected, it is normal to turn away.  That too is something indoctrination can teach.  If refugees/migrants want to be accepted, they must show it by their actions.  That is not something that is learned overnight, however it can be learned.  Everyone wants to be accepted.  Most everyone wants to be loved.  Dealing with basic human tendencies/desires can cause change.  "No one will change unless he/she personally feels a need to change."  The need to change to fit in is a compelling force.  Having a tutor/sponsor can assist with integration.
Those of us who moved frequently know the impact our presence makes on others and vice versa.  Living in foreign lands required adjustment.  We either adapted to the customs of the area in which we lived or remained an outsider.  To blend into any society one must first understand that society and the mentality of the people. Ignorance is no excuse.

... but Abe, you haven't changed at all. You adapted to your change of environment, but English is still your first language. I would be most surprised if you converse with your wife in German within your home. That's no different to immigrants from other countries continuing to use the language of their birth to communicate within their family groups.

I don't disagree with you Shelagh.  Communication in the language best know for clarity is proper.  Having the ability to communicate outside the home is where language is necessary.

In America we expect any foreigner who visits to speak English.  How do people of other countries treat tourists who speak a different language?  To communicate, adjustment/adaptation is required.  When one tries to speak another language the effort is appreciated and often bonding occurs. Obviously visiting is not the same as living in another country.

Yes, we speak English in the home.  The law of "Use or lose" also applies to language.  One must "think in the language" that one speaks.  Simple translation of words does not always convey clarity in meaning.

We have a race of people in America who were born here, and their generations go back to the early years of the United States, yet they still do not fit in. They refuse to fit in...what do you do in that case?

Go back ten yards and punt.  Hell, I don't know.  I have questions and lack answers.
When an old Arab/Jew was asked:  "Why do you always answer a question with a question" he replied, "Why not?"

We should require people to be proficient  in English in order to enter America.
They are saying it will take two years to vet them.  They can learn English as they wait.
Then the women and children can enter, the men can be trained to  fight for their country.

We should follow the example of other countries...the Unites States is an English speaking country. All signs, and all other things should be in English only.
I hate it when making a call, and the recorder ask, "For English, press two." I expect the blacks to soon Demand some signs be in a African language.
I don't think many can learn English before they come here, but they should be put in a position where they have to learn once here. In France most French people want you to speak French. I have seen no signs in Italy in English, or Russia?

Although I disagree with Putin on many things, I agree with him on this statement.

Religion is part of the culture of many immigrants.  It is also part of American culture.  We may despise religion, especially the extremists, but it won't go away.  Some of the rhetoric by some presidential candidates would have one believe that we should ban certain religions.  If they make any headway in that regard, I forsee Americans seeking political asylum to other countries for religous persecution. That is not too far-fetched.  Intolerance is on the rise.   We can be intolerant to those who refuse to obey the law, but how one lives ones life is not for the government to decide.  Obey the law applies to everyone.  We must make sure that the laws enacted are fair for everyone.  The word "United" is meaningful.

Learning the language before entering the country won't happen.  There is not enough time.  Besides, who would train them and where?
Being immersed in the language while learning makes good sense. That could be part of the Indoctrination program.  Along with establishing the rules to live by, the immigrant/migrant would also be taught the language.  Spending money upfront is the right thing to do.  Getting off on the right foot seems to be lost with the rush to settle things.  Our history of putting out fires or playing catch-up hasn't worked.  Getting it right the first time saves time, money.  People who never experienced the process of learning a second language cannot understand the difficulties involved.  Learning words is not learning a language.  As writers we know how the use of words affect comprehension.  American English is a bit different from British English.  Although much is the same the small variances can confuse and distort meaning, especially for a beginner.

What I’m suggesting is a “holding center” for the indoctrination.  It gives one a chance to weed out any trouble-makers (suspected terrorists) and decide if they will be admitted.
Determining where they will be sent to live is important.  We know that within the US there are variances in language.  People from the North moving South are identified as “Yanks” based on the manner of speech.  There are words common to the region of the country in which they live.
It could be decided how many refugees would be sent to what State.  An English teacher from that State would instruct the refugees in the language.  Instruction on words/phrases to use when shopping common to the area where they will reside.  There was an episode on MASH where they wanted to elicit help from the locals (Koreans) to work in the hospital.  They practiced phrases in unison.  “Do you have a Fever?”  “Get the Nurse”  “Get the Doctor”. It is not far-fetched.  Immigrants should be viewed as “First Graders” or even “pre-schoolers”.  Expecting someone to learn a language in a few weeks is absurd.  Wherever they will be assigned will require follow-up if they are expected to be accepted by the local populace.  Fitting in is important and that begins with dress and language.

Any refugee/migrant that refuses to attend these mandatory indoctrination classes would be expelled.  If they are not willing to follow the rules up-front, they are subject to rejection and deportation.

In Germany, all registered migrants/refugees are required to attend language training.  Those who are unregistered - those who slip across the border are the concern.  That happens more easily within the EU.  I can't see that happening in America.

In America, no one is required to have an official ID although ID’s are required for various purposes.  One normally shows a Driver’s License.  When one moves to another State they are required to get a new Driver’s License as well as new plates for their car – usually within 30-60 days.  When one moves from one location to another in Germany, one must register with the Administration of that area.  In the past one was required to de-register from the area one was leaving and obtain a police report.  That is no longer required.  With electronics, registering is just required.  They can do the checking electronically.
In America, one can get lost in the vastness of the country with no registration and no ID.  Not everyone has a driver’s license and therefore providing an ID becomes a problem.  IMV, the SS Card could have a photo and that would suffice as an ID.  It would also validate that the person is legally permitted to work thus taking that responsibility from the employer.

Migrants from any country once landing in America can disappear.  Registering along with the requirement to carry an ID would be a great help to the authorities.

What you are suggesting Abe, is in the Bible. All people will have some (unknown) mark, ID, Whatever, and without this they will not be able to buy, or sell anything. In the scriptures it is called, "The mark of the beast."  It is one of the signs of the last days. I read some years ago babies in England were being injected with some sort of chip. I don't know this for a fact...it was a news thing. I do remember it said to protect babies from being kidnapped. They could do this very easy. A chip would locate a person from space. The writer of that did warn, the chip could be made to control parts of how a person thinks. Many christians if they are alive when this happens will not take the chip.

Domenic, I recall vividly my mother talking about the "mark of the beast".  I also recall when Gorbachev was President of Russia he had a birthmark on his forehead and many fundamentalists referred to that as the "mark of the beast" since Russia (the Soviet Union) was the beast in their view.
Our government is not run by the church - at last not yet.  Governments that are run by the church, like Saudi Arabia, should give us some hint of what can happen.

When anyone is stopped by the police for a driving infraction, they require identification or does one  just say, "This is me?" Twisted Evil

No one know what the mark of the beast will be Abe? Whatever it is, everybody will know it about the same time.
I don't know English slang Shelagh, so I'll just take the biscuit comment with a gran of salt. I know you don't like to hear anything about the bible. I don't know why? You never hear Christians complain when those who don't believe in the bible say nothing about the bible?
