Life has to be fun, and I'm having fun Empty
PostSubject: Life has to be fun, and I'm having fun   Life has to be fun, and I'm having fun EmptyMon Oct 05, 2015 1:10 pm

For the past few month I have been getting my silk screen shop set up. I have my own design shop for printing T-Shirts, and
doing artwork, separating colors to make my silk screens. The name of the company is Moulin Rouge quality garments. I have yet to set up my web-store, contact pay pal, and start my marketing program.

Moulin Rouge will sell t-Shirts, Skirts, Short-Hoodies, Caps and women’s under garments. The garments, and printing will be of the highest quality with a 30 day money back guaranty.Since I love art, I enjoy doing the design work. The silkscreen business is an 18 billion dollar (USD) a year business.
The inks used today are much better than the water based inks of the sixties. The colors of the new inks will stay bright for years. Here is something a few of you may want to think about: Some people sell shirts made by screen printers on their own web-store. One women did this, and made $120,000 the first year…$220,000 her second year. This post is not intended to recruit members of this forum to sell my garments.
If you do start selling T-Shirts for printers, you can set it up where they ship the shirt from their store…this way you have no inventory cost…just a web site.
This will give all you OLD people something to do, and earn a few extra dollars, or pounds.

The key to selling is find your nitch...something you love, and know about...that is the market you go after. A fast way to do it is buy an email list of that nitch...there about $100 for 10,000. There are also companies that will send out the emails for you at a cost of around $35 a month...it may take two, or three mailings before you start getting replies.

I'm not all that keen on the email thing...I have a different marketing plan.

Congratulations.  That is really neat that you are going for your own business in a highly competitive arena.  Best of fortunes to you.

True there a many people in the screen printing business, but...most don't know how to market their goods.  A monkey can learn how to screen print in just a few hours...selling is a different art.
The forums I'm on, many have 20+ years screen printing, but are not making the money. They don't stick with one nitch, they try to sell all markets, and that just makes them a screen printing shop.
They buy cheap shirts for $1.75, and sell them for $5.00.
I'm staying in one nitch, high quality shirts, and my price will never go under $21.00 a shirt. People go into business without having a business background, or taking the time to go to school, and learn how to market.
What I see is a wide open playing field. The gal who made $120,000 the first year stayed in one nitch, and she put on her shirts what she knew the people in that nitch wanted. She was into Yogo, and knew the things they like printed on shirts. She only sold to Yogo shops. Smart gal.

Domenic, from what you posted it is clear you know what you're doing.  Finding a nitch is smart.  Those who want to grab the whole market at once usually fail.

You might want to do a start up Abe. You can make a one color press for $10. It seems like Germany would be a Good market. They would buy shirts printed in English. I've seen stuff the kids from China have that are printed in English...not so good, their English is bad. Things like, "Me happy for travel."
Maybe you should talk to a shirt printer...your English is good. Work out a deal, and make some extra money...besides, old people live longer when they have things to do.

Domenic, my entreprenurial days are over.  I was involved in cosmetics, jewelry and also had a fashion botique.  I designed and had T-Shirts made as souvenirs.  It is hard work and I learned much.  I just don't have the energy or the will to do it.  I see many opportnities for new business start-ups.  I would be willing to advise/consult, but don't want any hands-on work.  I'm retired and wish to avoid the stress associated with any new endeavor.
I applaud what you are doing and see the potential, but it's just not for me.

I have always been a hands on person. Some years back I almost went to work for SBA Small Business Association, They hire retired people who have a history in different areas of business as advisers to those who are granted business loans. SBA used to have their own offices, but the Government found they could save money if they turned it over to the banks…the banks screwed the whole program up, so I didn’t take a position with them. The main goal of the program was to elevate women into the business world…the banks made it harder for women to do start up.

With all the immigrants coming into Europe, there is going to be a big business for advisers. These people will need to learn everyday normal stuff.

How is your wife doing Abe? Is she still under treatment? I hope she is doing okay.

My wife was transported this morning again to a specialized clinic in southwest Germany.  Treatment will continue.  She is a fighter and wants to get better knowing that it may not be so.  Controlling the disease is the best they can do so that she can live a normal life.
Your concern is appreciated.

One of my uncles died this past year. He and my aunt were married for 65 years. She died one month after him. Bonds get tight. You are a strong man Abe...let the strength flow from you to your wife.
How far from you is she?

It is too far for a daily visit or even weekly.  It is about a five-six hour drive one way depending on traffic.  We're hoping that her stay will be short this time.  She is already getting infusions.  What is interesting is that they put her in the same room and the same bed as with her last stay.  I hope they don't expect that to be "her room".  I talked with her by phone a short while ago and she is in good spirits.  They didn't waste any time.  They took blood and then immediately began the infusions.
She is in good hands.  They are familiar with the disease and know what is best. It is such a rare thing that most places wouldn't know what to do and just prescribe medication that would do more harm than good.  That has already happened.  It has been a real learning experience. Becoming self-informed is a great benefit.  Telling the uninformed Doctor that what he is prescribing is wrong doesn't go over too well, but when it is your body, you don't just take what they presicribe without questioning them.
Being alone causes one to think of things one usually doesn't want to consider.  I can't imagine a life without her.  We have been together for 54 years - a lifetime for some.  It gets to a point where you know what one is thinking or going to say before they say it.  We have much in common.  We are in tune politically as well as other matters.  It is gratifying to talk with someone who shares your thoughts or opinions.

PostSubject: Re: Life has to be fun, and I'm having fun   Life has to be fun, and I'm having fun EmptyTue Oct 06, 2015 2:12 pm

Over the years I have known, and talked to many who have lost a soul mate.

This past week I was thinking about my grandfather. His whole generation is gone. Then I started thinking about my father…his whole generation is also gone. I will be 80 in January, and my whole generation will be gone next. Every generation has, and will pass away. I used to wonder why old people would sit, and smile at young people?…now I know…the old people know the young people will be old before they know it, and pass away.

I stopped telling people about the promised resurrection on a paradise earth. Most don’t believe it…so I figured I would wait, and after we are resurrected I’d sit on park bench, and just smile.

You can talk to your wife via cell phone can’t you…or don’t they allow cell phones where she is?
