I was Skyping with my family in Charlottesville today and asked my grand-daughter how her chicks are doing. She said, “No eggs yet.” I asked her if they cackle. She said: “No, but they make a weird sound. They run all day long and enjoy the area they are in. I said: “Perhaps you should get them a book to read on how to be a chicken or what a chicken is supposed to do.” She laughed and thought it a good idea. My daughter said: “That would be a great book to write.” I said: “I know just the person that could write that. Her name is Betty Fasig.
I recall reading my kids children’s books. One was about a bear trying to teach his son how to certain things. (I don’t remember the book title) “This is what you should not do, now let that be a lesson to you.” In one segment the bear was teaching his son how to ride a bike and crashed. He said: “This is what you should not do, now let that be a lesson to you, small bear.” Everything he did went wrong and thus the “This is what you should not do, now let that be a lesson to you.”
I think that a book about chickens could be a fun thing. “How to be a chicken” or “What a chicken is expected to do.”
