PostSubject: Tamales, the failure   Fri Jul 24, 2015 3:47 pm

I bought all the stuff the on line recipes said to do, a tamale cooker, corn husks, masa, shortening and stuff for the filling.  I soaked the husks for about four hours.  I made the dough according to directions.  I refrigerated it.  I had the marinated cooked chicken ready.
What a failure!
Evidently there i different masa harina for tamales than what I bought.  I steamed for three hours!
Not edible.
David said try frying them.  I did that.  No.

Live and learn
Love, Betty

It was, Alice.  But, I will know better next time.  I will give it a while and then try again.  I might get some expert Mexican advice!  I am glad that you are well.  Did the doctors have to poke holes in you to find out?
Love,
Betty

No holes.  Just ran a tube down my throat.  This time  they had me clear out.

Geeze!
You have suffered so much!  I do not like to clear out, top or bottom!
Love,
Betty

That is so different from clearing out top and bottom!  You make me laugh, my Alice.  I am glad that you are not poked full of holes.  I do love you.
