Arriving on Sunday at Washington-Dulles was strange.  Everyone spoke English - American English Very Happy
It was a long day and I'm now adjusted to the change in time, but still need more time to accllimate to the environment.
Great to see my daughter and grandkids.  What a wonderful welcome.

Like Alice said as she clicked the heel of her red shoes, "There's no place like home, there's no place like home." Welcome back Abe, even if it's only for a short time.

Thanks both.  The following day after my arrival I called my wife to say that I arrived safely.  She replied: "I knew that.  I kept watching TV to see if any planes crashed and since there were none I knew  you made it okay."

I was tempted to speak to the Captain before the flight to inquire if everything was okay at home.  "Alles in ordnung?  That wasn't necessary and the flight was actually one of the best in recent memory.  I was booked in economy and since they were overbooked, they made a special upgrade offer for "Economy Premium Class".  I upgraded.  I can recommend the upgrade.  More foot room as well as a bit more sitting room.  The service was equal to Business Class.

Welcome home.  I think seating comfort classes vary by airline.  My economy flights to and from Italy a few years ago were so miserable I swore I would never fly more than 3 hours again unless business class.  Glad it was comfortable for you.  Hope you have good weather too.

Welcome home, Abe. The country is better with you in it! Hope you have a wonderful visit--and no problems with the "language barrier" Smile.

I found myself using German expressions when in the store.  Getting strange looks was a good prompt.
Yesterday I walked across the parking lot to the store and stepped into a pool of paint.  Someone spilled a can of paint and didn't bother to clean it up.  My footprints told the tale as I entered the store.  Got the manager and he had someone cleanup the mess in the parking lot.  I wore a plastic bag over my shoe to do my shopping.  In the checkout line, a lady was looking at my foot with the plastic bag over it.  I explained that I had stepped into paint.  She said, "I thought you were making a fashion statement."
We had a good chuckle.  Now to try and get the shoe cleaned.  They happen to be new shoes.
