| Too bad that nut killed himself and all of those innocent folks along with himself. It makes me want to quit flying. I hope there are not copycats now. |

| The world is full of nuts - in theaters, at marathons, on highways, in shopping malls, in schools, at universities - and yes, in airplanes.
Life is uncertain. It's unfortunate that so many people suffer from mental aberrations that are beyond the understanding of even the experts. Yet, health systems the world over continue to overlook the mental health needs that fill our prisons and endanger everyone.
I'm sure we all know someone whose behavior could use a little evaluation - yet, it's such a stigma that you can't tell them - services are poor to non-existent and many fail - it a conundrum for which the answers are limited.
The detachment from family and society may be a contributing factor; yet, some family dynamics are enough to cause mental illness.
My only hesitation flying would be the copycat factor, however. If I had a choice, I might wait. Many people have no choice. Perhaps the airlines will do something to examine the stress that might be experienced by pilots in order to protect their "cargo." |

There is a way ! a Russian Billionaire came up with the idea of creating a 13,000 mile highway to London and New York, now I wonder will they put the rest stops and restaurants? I have to look for the article I read.
Cheers..Joe |

| I wouldn't be surprised if at some point a premium will be charged to fly with a "certified mentally-sound" crew. The fear factor is used in politics as well as commercial applications. With the application of "reason" we can resist the temptation to fall into the fear-associated propaganda. |

| The same thing could happen with a bomb or gunman in a crowded building, or subway trains which carry far more people than a plane. If you stop living the way you want then you are dead inside already. Don't give in to fear my friends. |

| Remember the days when flying you could visit the cockpit? I once was offered to sit in the cockpit jumpseat. The plane was full and I was flying standby.
How things have changed. A guy gets caught with an explosive device in his shoe and since then people must remove their shoes when going through secutity. How many remember flying when there was no security? Security procedures are usually put in place after a disaster. Trying to anticipate what some nut may do is not 100% possible. There are numerous things now forbidden that were previously okay, i.e., carrying certain liquids on board or a pocket knife.
Not only has our climate changed, but the way we live has changed. To live in fear is no way to live. Being cautious is prudent. Prevention is important. That not only applies to crime, but also to healthcare. We know we will die. We somehow feel we would like to choose the time, place and manner in which it will happen. I don't believe it works that way. |

| I believe all that happens in our lives just is. We live our lives as our nature directs in spite of all we know intellectually. We are here and then we are not here. The time is out of our control. I seek better health not because I believe it will give me a longer life, but rather because my present life will be more comfortable and the future I am given may - and the word is "may" be more comfortable. My nature is to be prudent. I'm not going bungee jumping or jump from airplanes. I am not going mountain climbing but rather I will hike in hills with decent paths. I travel long distances on holidays to reduce traffic. Yet, I sailed in the Atlantic in some terrible storms and life on a sailboat was very dangerous. Thus, my nature makes my choices and my life flows accordingly. |
