PostSubject: Presidential Candidate(s)   Tue Mar 24, 2015 12:28 am

Ted Cruz announced his candidacy for President.  How can a Canadian-born run for President?

Unless I'm mistaken, a President of the US must be American-born.  Naturalization doesn't qualify one for the poistion of US President.  Remember the mess created when the opposition made such a deal about Obama's birth certificate?  How will they deal with Ted Cruz?

My understanding is that his mother was born in the U.S. so he is the child of an American citizen.

Of course, the real reason Cruz in running for President is so Canada can take over the U.S. -

I do hope folks are remembering and remembering well the 24 billion he caused us to pay for his govt shut down, also that he signed the treasonous letter to our enemies.  He is unfit for the Presidency.

Alice, everyone doesn't feel like you.  They believe his shut down was to stop the President from growing the debt and the letter was necessary because President Obama is not strong enough in foreign policy.

I feel like you.  But people today don't vote for rationale reasons, they hear a party's platform and vote for the person who repeats it.  Those are the people who vote.

The ordinary people don't know who to vote for anymore and are engaged in working three low-pay jobs to support their families and know that no one is going to help them get ahead, so voting doesn't matter.

The religious people who want their doctrines as part of legislation vote for the person that agrees.  They ignore the fact that all their Constitution thumping does not take into account that the separation of church and state was a bulwark on which our nation was founded.  A great fear was the incorporation of religion into governance.

became part of the USA, look it up it's true...too bad we didn't we would be bigger than
Russia....

Now, Canada and the U.S. as one country - I think that is a great idea.  Let's add Mexico, too.  Puerto Rico too.  And Hawaii......ooops, that's right - our President was born there, wasn't he?  And he is a U.S. citizen, so Hawaii must be part of the U.S. already (tongue in cheek).

I like the way you think, Alice.  Giving Texas back to Mexico could rid us of bad politicians.

We'd have to get rid of a few more states to accomplish that.  No, I prefer to add Mexico and Canada and eliminate all the immigration issues.

Alice, of all the candidates, I prefer Bernie Sanders.  Whether he can deliver on promises is something we can't rely on, however he is championing the cause of the middle class and the under-priviledged.
The final debates should be very interesting.

We could avoid all the political campaign by installing the already nationally elected person who was denied the Presidency.  Guess who?  If national elections don't count, why do you vote?

Sorry your all living in a dream world ! From the polls I just read all of the
Republican candidates are below 15% and Trump is at 26 % the man who tells it like
it is saying what the American people are thinking and saying, he doesn't need lobbyist
to come and say Oh Mr. Trump I'll give you 10 Million to do this for me, that's why he is
liked he doesn't have any political connections, the other morons do. Now it has come out
Hillary when she became Secretary Of State ( What a mistake that was !,) cut a deal for a
Swiss Bank with the IRS and guess what, the Clinton Foundation received a few millions of
dollars as a thank you, boy she's a crook who need handcuffs..Then again as I was told once
by a good friend who lived to be 98 ( She was a tough Irish- Scot,) " There are favorites in
hell and none in heaven, ) I have come to believe that more and more, so as you see we all
know who's going to be President it's Donald Trump ! I think he can do better than Pres. Obama
who has done nothing to help this economy or even help his own people, what a disappointment !
Bernie Sanders we don't need he's an extreme leftist Democrat and we don't need a Communist
running this country another Fidel Castro ! Can't wait for next Thursday it's the Republican debate
and I'm drooling to see Donald Trump Kick Ass with the other Republicans especially Jeb Bush, Rubio,
and all the others and I'm salavating to see him get Hillary !!! President Donald Trump....

                                                      Cheers...Joe...

Joe, I can't say I agree with anything you said in your posts about the candidates and our current President.  It's probably best just to leave it at that.  Everyone has an opinion and most often it has to do with the input one receives.

It has to do with getting tired of the same old bull from both sides , you know it,
I know it and so does everyone else in this country, it's time for a major change
someone without political connections, listen to all of them carefully they all spew
the same garbage, they have to go......

                                                                     Cheers..Joe.........

PostSubject: Re: Presidential Candidate(s)   Thu Jul 30, 2015 4:13 pm

The problem is that one does not replace one negative with another.  Donald Trump is able to say what he does because he has money.  Period.  It's not because he is talented or has plans for the country or knows anything about the world beyond what his minions learn to put up one of his buildings.

There are CEO's of global corporations who might make a good president, but they are busy making $billions and can't waste their time - better for them to buy their influence than be the influence.

I cannot say anything negative or positive about any of the candidates because all I know is what commentators say or how they respond to questions.

I like what Bernie Sanders has to say and have always admired his statements.  However, he may be too far to the left just as the republican candidates are too far to the right.  We need a balance between the needs of the citizens for a quality life and the supports to business and industry to insure jobs that protect that quality of life.  That balance is out of sync today and global corporations run the economy to their benefit unrestricted with exorbitant profits and little return to the workers and the nation that gave the corporations and their executives the opportunities.

Thus, we have crumbling roads and bridges, aging school buildings, a sad elementary and secondary school system in most of the country, especially the south, and higher education that's excellent such that foreign students love to come here but our own can't afford it.  Our health care system is way out of sync with reality - skyrocketing costs and profits at the top and physician shortages and lack of care for brain disorders and family needs at the bottom.

Study the little country of Estonia sometime.  I know it's very small, but they have addressed these issues quite well in many ways without much to start with.  As Abe often says, we are so high and mighty we don't look to others for lessons in how to make our own country better.
