Ann, it comes back to Israel because it is the most flagrant example of white-washing evil.  We choose to ignore injustice when it comes to Israel while condemning others.  Why?  I choose to point out evil where it exists at the expense of losing friends.  On the other hand, I don't want to be friendly with those who support or endorse evil.  I am sympathetic to the oppressed whoever they may be.
The only weapon I have is my voice.  I choose not to ignore evil and will do whatever I can to bring attention to it until my dying day.

We see the situation differently. Both sides,I believe, are at fault. It's an old, old situation and both sides need to compromise.

But you know my feelings as well as I know yours. If our perspectives are so different, others must be as well. I don't see where continued argument helps to find a solution. We have both said everyting we have to say.

The 47 Senators should have kept their mouth shut.
Now they say their letter was a joke.
Some joke.

I have great respect for Abe's beliefs since he lived in the Middle East.  I spent some time there though not as much as he did.  My son has worked there.

I believe I was a member of the Republican Party because I was wealthy, hung around with wealthy people and didn't want anyone to take my wealth away.  Like the story in the Bible, I put away childish things and opened my eyes and saw that I was part of a bigger universe and as that part, I had no right better than anyone else to have excesses while the impoverished were hungry.  I was blessed with opportunities that needed to be imparted to others.

Thus, my career path took me in the direction of providing opportunities for those who were not born into them, both to help them and to help the greater society through their contributions as they moved up the economic ladder.

I find the Republican obstructionism since President Obama took office an embarrassment to me as a U.S. citizen. Great things could have been accomplished with the combined potential wisdom of those elected who actually care about this country more than their own self-interest (there are some in Congress, just hard to fathom who they are).

Instead, we have a bad marriage where the children are hurting from the constant bickering of the parents while their lives fall apart around them, one parent verbally abusing the other.

The U.S. will go on because we are so far big and powerful.  We had so much potential for more, however, that the constant bickering has diminished.  As far as I'm concerned the 47 Republicans who sent that letter are borderline committing treason regardless of how they try to wiggle out.  The same goes for inviting nations to speak before congress without consulting with the President.  The whole thing is sickening.

I do not see this as a Republican/Democrat issue. People I know who see it as a two-sided situation fall on both sides of the party lines. Abe'experiences have shaped his perspe tives and I'not trying to change them. I'm merely asking fro the same respect.

Alice, it is no joke.  If we believe in justice and laws, they should be prosecuted.
If they get away with this, what will they do next?

There are those who committed wrongs and go unpunished.  GWB and Cheney are an example.  They lied us into a war that cost hundreds of thousands of lives.  The cost in dollars is large but can't be equalted with the cost of lives.  Politics plays a role in who gets prosecuted.  That is a big problem with our justice system.  No one should be above the law.

Could you please elaborate on what compromise(s) is/are required by the Palestinians?

I've been over them before and you've ignored them. You don't really want to consider another perspective. I've got more immediate issues to deal with. Why whip a dead horse.

The Republicans wrote the letter.  They invited the speech.  They proclaimed it their duty to obstruct every thing attempted by this administration. Their singular goal is to cause difficulties to President Obama.  That is not in the best interests of the country.

It doesn't matter a hill of beans, we're just a flossom in
the sea and guess what we don't matter because politicians will tell you
and anyone else we know better than you ! We'll my attitude is if they
start acting that way it's time for them to go, the American Public is too
dam ignorant or they don't give a dam anymore, I say have a panel run
by the American citizens ( Ordinary People,) who has a list that grades all
politicians this includes Pres., Vice Pres., Supreme Court ( Oh that job should
not be for life , maybe 6 yrs that's it !)  If anyone in Govt, doesn't get a 100%
rating in their job and the paper would have a list of their duties totalling 50
questions or more each rated 0-100% ...If they fail, their forced to resign, no
benefits, no salary, no retirement......That's it..Oh yes salaries would be slashed
from $175,000 to $75,000-  Others $400,000- to $150,000- now your all like
everyone else , just regular Joe's who work their asses off for little money...

                                                           Cheers...Joe

Agreed. They are overpaid.  They are overstaffed.  They are overstuffed with their own importance.

You can't change how a government works. These are the law makers. They control the law with police, and army. When people started to change things with votes, they passed a law that let 18 year olds vote.
These kids believe anything those in charge say. When Obama ran the first time, these kids voted for him because he looked cool. 70% of the Jews in America voted for him twice, because he promised to increase the FREE money we give to Israel. If people stand up against the Government, they will come under force of arms. This freedom thing is BS...you don't have it. Who counts the votes? States turn in the votes, but they don't know what other States have voted? it's all a con game.
If you believe you have freedom, check this out; Google in your search bar..."Concentration camps built in America by FEMA. (385 at last count.)"

I hope not.  I don't think the emails were a big deal  What bothers me is  the secrecy.
We don't need eight years of that.

What secrecy?  Everything we do on the I-Net is seen.  All this BS about private emails is just another political smear.  I personally don't like Hilary Clinton, but that would not cause me to smear her because of private emails.  As for her run for the Presidency, she cannot duplicate what her husband did.  Her calim to fame is simply that she is a woman and it is felt that a woman may have a chance at becoming President.  We elected a black man who has proven that he is a very capable and intelligent President.  Do you think a woman, especially a democrat, would escape attacks by the GOP?  There are other women that would make good Presidents, however it will take a strong woman to rise above the crap that will come her way.
England had a good Woman in Margaret Thatcher.  Germany has a good woman Chancelor.  The mold has been broken and sex should not be used as a political issue.  Intelligence and perfoming the job for the benefit of the country and its citizens is what is required.  Power hungry rich people will not benefit the common man.  Bernie Sanders would make a good President.  He has shown what he is made of by his actions in congress.  The only negative is his age.  Energy is needed to perform the demanding job of President.

I feel Hillary Clinton is probably one of the most qualified on today's political lineups for president.  Her experience and her political intelligence is vast on both domestic and foreign issues.  Does she do everything right?  Who does? She has the capacity to lead well.

I do not believe she will be elected.  This country has shown that deep felt prejudices rule - whether they be gender, religion, color, sexual orientation, age or whatever - a person who does not fit the WASP, youth culture norm suffers.  Period.  And that suffering is a distraction and cause celeb for opposition.

People in this country prefer a youthful, attractive leader.  None of the really qualified individuals would not run such a gamut of hell to be president when they can enjoy the benefits of their corporate worlds unmolested and privately. It takes someone already born into political career goals for whom the power is sufficient to lay their lives bare and face the music.  They are not necessarily the most qualified.

I don't think women are ready for it. If Hillary was President, Bill would be pulling the strings...and we don't need that again. Lets put Joe up for the office. If he was president he could take control of all the publishers, and we'd all get published big time...right Joe?

It's hopeless, Alice. Give it up. At this point, my vote seems likely to go to Hilary Clinton, but the election is still a long way away.
