To set up a personal album, click on "Gallery" on the navigation bar and then click on the "Your personal album" link to set up your own album. Upload all your personal photos and pictures.

Have fun!

When I try to upload pictures to the Gallery or to my Personal Photo Album, the message says that it has exceeded the allowed limit and cannot upload any more pictures. I haven't uploaded any pictures so why do I receive this message? Does it mean for the entire group?

I checked this out Kristie. The forum is allowed 10mb of space for the gallery. Any extra space has to be paid for. I have deleted my personal album and created some space for more book covers to be uploaded. When the space runs out, I will have to make another decision!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Shelagh,

I think members will happy to restrict their gallery to one image once the realise the limit situation.

I will set mine now.

I think that asking the members to limit the number of pictures that they upload isn't unreasonable, considering the fact that space is limited. Thanks for checking on this.

I agree. Limiting photos to only the books written, etc. is very reasonable, indeed. Do our avatars count in the scheme of it?

No Zada, avatars don't count. I will be deleting some of the files in personal albums soon to allow more book covers to be uploaded.

I can buy extra photo space but it would mean asking for donations (a bit like green shield stamps, the money would not go to me but be banked as points to be spent on the forum to give members more space on the web site).

Asking for money so soon after I set up the forum seems a bit over the top to me. Unfortunately, when we run out of space, members won't be able to add anymore photos.

Shelagh, I should not mind if you were to ask for money. ;-)
Possibly, the first members to support you ought to be able to keep at least their first photo for free and high on the list.

Maybe a good first policy would be to allow three free photos (a lot of people get three-book contracts) and follow that up with a paypal linked pay as you go to add further covers/images.
Best,

This is a link to the donations page if you wish to make a donation. The money will buy points for the forum and cannot be used for any other purpose.

http://publishedauthors.forumotion.com/donate.forum

50 points will add 50mb of storage to the gallery until April 18th.

I checked on the admin board forum (for administrators to ask questions about how the forums are run) and copied this from one of the threads:

Item Price: $23.58 USD
Total: $23.58 USD
Order Description: Achat de 2000 points
Item/Product Number: 2000

I don't know if you can buy less than 2000 points but I would suggest donating the minimum amount possible. 500 points would cost $5.90 and that would pay for storage for 10 months.

Thanks for doing this Rowena!

Hi, Shelagh,

The good news is, that if one clicks VALIDATE at every turn, and already has a Paypal account, there is no need to use a credit card.

The least in US dollars seemed to be $8.01, which I find very reasonable.

If you know how many points I donated, it would be cool to know. The system didn't say.

Thanks for everything.

The forum has been credited with 514 points! You will see your reward above your avatar! Thanks from everyone on the forum!

I have added 50mb of storage to the Gallery. Earlier, I had to delete some photos from personal albums to accomodate more book covers in the main album. Those members can now upload their photos again plus a few more!

If you haven't done so already, you can set up an album and upload your photos.
